Apologies for inactivity on my end. Christmas cookies baking day. Lots of 'em, aaaand I see we have the usual day 1 stuff. Ben making claims and getting the easy votes, Ignorrik, Lopen prodding at the edges of a rabbit hole, and... what the hell? No flowchart?

So I think Isquen being SK is practically zero.

The way I see this is. A. Scare is scum or SK. Isquen is town. B. Isquen is scum (I'll come back to this) and scare is town or SK. C. Isquen is town. Scare is town or SK.

So a. I don't like scares explanation at all. There is some things I could point to that supports it, but it reeks to me. If Scare is scum, isquen has to be town if this claim is legit.

B. So, isquen as SK doesn't make sense to me, but Isquen as scum is actually plausibly a great play. He makes it known in the open he is going to shoot. It explains an extra kill at night. To him Scare is town or SK, so it's a net positive for scum regardless. He knows he won't get roleblocked by scum, and also if Scare flips town he just goes... never would I have thought there was 2 town vigilantes. He probably avoids scans due to them thinking he would prove himself or not with his shot. He already said he would be going to the target at night so no reason to care if tracked or watched. It's kinda high level misdirection. Question is... is he capable of coming up with it.

Then C. Isquen is actually town. But Scare isn't scum either and this is a possibly unbalanced, experimental game for fun or something like the host told us. And there is probably a good bit of BPs or crap out in the wild also.

This does NOT strike me as a scum on scum kind of jab.

I'm wondering what to make of Ben going for here. I guess he's been saying that all along, but he's done very little about it until now and rarely ever spoken why. I'm just having a very hard time a scum team without the two of them on. Is this an attack to try to distance the two once one of them is dead? They did end on MZero neither sounding that convinced.

The correct course of action is probably lynching Ben, then Death and if game is not won at that point despite both being scum then look at chang if no roleblocker flipped and uhh, everyone but Lea if a roleblocker did. I'm not sure what is more likely then, being wrong about Sultan or being wrong about how there could three scum on the lynches on the end of day 2.

To add to plum's points, I feel like if Ben was town, he seems like such an obvious target for scum following Isquen's flip to not have Scare killed. This gives them the chance to janitor. No one really pursues it though, unless you think plum is also on that team with Ben but I don't think he can be if Ben is.

Like, this was never really a role meta thing. Though it doesn't exactly help.

I'd argue Corrik wanted to pursue Ben.

Either way. Looks like I have got a long day ahead of me. (Unfortunately that also applies to my workday.)

Occams razor is telling me that Ben is simply scum here. And obviously that would be my pick for gladiation if its gonna be between me or him.
But while there is time I will do my own analysis (analyses?).
Not that I think Bens points about Plum for instance are bad, but I cant trust the motivation behind making them.

Well I am looking very much forward to see what analysis you bring to the table because I felt like you've dug down a few times without actually getting anywhere.

Like okay, occams razor says Ben is scum, but you must have an idea of more than that at this point of the game.

And not rushing is one thing but plum has a point about the psychological aspect of dragging things out.

Ben was the most informative lynch for days and always looked very suspicious but has managed to be avoided until a point where he's basically poe'd on top of being role meta'd when he should have needed neither to get lynched. Part of the delay was Corrik handing himself on a silver plate, sure, but this is way overdue.

Would not surprised of Ben is fireproof roleblocker or something like that. Could also be their role cop or whatever made them out the doctor. If they are actually only 4 and Corrik was effectively vanilla from game start then there has to be good roles in the rest.

I confess to having been limiting my focus to just the major suspects for the last 2 game days (due to real life time limitations). Of which only Ben is alive now and my biggest suspect.

But if you want my remaining current mindset.
I dont think Changmas can be scum, I have had a good feeling about Sultan while on the other hand I am still unsure about Sbell. Lea is clearly town. Its only you and Plum who have kinda fallen off my radar.

I dont want to rush because it leads to sloppiness. But I agree that there is probably a psychological factor working against us. Especially with Christmas itself coming nearer.

Ben having another power besides fireproof is possible. I dont recall if anyone did, but people saying he cant be scum because he is too weak is not good reasoning.

This sentence bothers me a bit, not because I disagree with what it says but because of the wording I think. It not just stating the point but being made as a possible counterargument is weird.

I'd prefer lynching Ben because it likely fully confirms plum and SBell through end of day 2 and also I think him being avoided makes him very likely to be the roleblocker if it exists and if that's true then we have chang fully confirmed at the same time. But I guess going for Death first and then Ben tomorrow arrives at the same place in the end.

It's extremely hard for me to imagine the two not being scum. If it's actually chang then he eventually loses on a roleblocker not having flipped, regardless of if he's one of two scum left or is actually the third on a team with Ben/Death. 5 scum becomes way more reasonable if town doesn't even have one scanner. Way more likely that chang is just town though and the answer is most likely just Ben and Death.

Eh I did phrase that clunkily. You bringing up the fireproof thing made me think someone used it as an argument today, so I more meant to say "I dont recall who did."

But I looked back and saw that the only one who did that was Lea, on day4, to argue that Mzero was more likely to be scum.
So nevermind. Imperfect argument, but the source can be trusted.

I did already see small signs that point towards Plum not being scumpartners with Ben, like him arguing the same thing about his power possibly being more than just fireproof. (and of course the big obvious signs like his votes)

Thank you all for playing! Scum has granted you the greatest Christmas gift of all...spending time with your loved ones instead of checking to see if there are any more posts in the mafia game, which obviously would've taken priority otherwise.

This was a hard game to host. I'm sorry that I wasn't able to be around as much as I had in the past. Life and all that. This was probably a terrible time for me to host considering how many other priorities I have, but it looked like people really wanted a game and I already had this one mostly set up. This was such a headache to go back and decide on all these various rulings for various rulebreaking, and each and every time something happened was a day I was out and trying to do stuff with family. Sorry for the long breaks and all that. This was so much easier to host and play before I had a big boy job and kids and I'm sort of worried I don't have time to do this as well as I want to any more. I wouldn't say this is my final game hosting, but it very well could be my penultimate. Honestly, the main reason I loved hosting in the past wasn't as much setting up a game as it was having fun with friends and writing the flavor. I didn't even have time to write flavor for this one and most of my best mafia friends have all moved on. MI and Lea and Corrik are probably the last bastion of people I talk to in any capacity outside of these games, and while it is great to see how the community has changed since I started, I just haven't been as involved in this for several years now. I mostly played at MU for several years, but I haven't even done that since like 2020. I definitely don't mind hosting, but I don't want to do it if I feel like I can't do a good job at it. I have had my final game set up for a while now, and I need to decide if I want to run that next or if there's a Fuck 2022 coming up in the future.

I'll be posting thoughts/other stuff shortly, but again, thank you all! You were all the very best of friends. Happy holidays, one and all!

Suprak came to us to for advice on how to handle BCT since he did break the rule.
And we could not decide either. Half of us felt it unfair to modkill BCT for that and didnt want to ruin his fun (welp)
So Scare suggested to just roll a die for it.

I just wanted to play mafia from a pool area in Maui and you all stole it from me.

For a first scum game this obviously went pretty well. I am surprised I was not ever really pressured and only considered a bit once town began to run out of options. I usually gets suspected a lot as town lol. JC did once, Han and him discussed it and concluded that I probably was not scum because of something that I actually tried to deliberately do to look town so that was nice. I like to think I was good at acting like town Ctes at least.

Contemplated a better but more risky fakeclaim for a while but when BCT was eventually modkilled we needed just two mislynches and MZero and Ben were basically free at that point so we just rolled with it taking the easy way to the goalline. Didn't ever try to play under the radar or anything, but certainly didn't try as hard the final two days.

My actual best play by far was saying we should block chang n1 lol.

We basically only tried hitting power, Han was basically the only miss we could have made n2 in thst regard, but probably still a good kill given he was onto everyone but me at the time. Red was an attempt that went well. Him and chang were both targeted through not standing out but obviously we were a bit lucky using our scan on MZero instead of one of the other things, so we knew he was likely untargetable from n1 onwards. N3 we knew JC had moved and basically had to be doctor unless chang was, no luck in that one.

For all discussion about what scum team agreed to shoot Lopen day 1. No scum team did lol, Scare just wanted to have fun. I wasn't even around and just came back to Lopen being dead.

We were given a choice of having BCT modkilled at the time, which was the actual reason for the very long stop. Again, I was not there, but the rest of the gang spent a long time discussing it and it was 2v2.

Also, Corrik was lynched so it became redundant but he was in fact also modkilled for breaking the rule about being nice and was removed from the scumchat following that day. He did indeed not actually have MI on his list of people, MI confirmed this to us given Corrik was no longer around to but would have said it if he was. Corrik indeed vetoed Lopen and it was Death he picked as a scummate. He switched no roles around.

Feels like the end was too easy but I don't really think it was an unfair setup. Traps in MZero/Ben sure, but Corrik and Scare could also easily get themselves trapped. The only good roles we had was Scare and me. Death's was useful but not great. We got to off a vig early and who knows what happens if red gets to live another day.
