The manager of a Minnesota liquor store was surprised to come back from lunch yesterday to find his counterhelp walking around in her socks.

Thats because security camera footage revealed she had just given her favorite shoesa pair of purple retro Jordans, to a homeless man she saw strapping boxes to his feet.
Brooklyn Center Liquor employee Ta Leia Thomas, known locally as Ace said the split-second act of kindness was an easy decision.

He said nobody would ever give me shoes like that, Thomas told CBS. And I said, well, Im not everybody.

I was always taught to help others. You never know what their problem is, or what they are going through.

Manager Tom Agnes said that even before the generous act, he wished he had 12 Aces on his team, such is her work ethic and joyful connection with customers. Agnes bought her a fresh pair of kicks before her shift was over, after which he shared the security camera footage on social media.

Thomas has been overwhelmed by the comments of love and appreciation, which quickly grew all the more intense after Agnes and a few friends in the industry came together to raise $450 for Thomas to buy another pair of purple Jordansthe color of her favorite Minnesota team, the Vikings.

As it turns out, through becoming a little bit more attentive to Aces life, Agnes learned that she is the sole caretaker of her mother, who sleeps in Aces bed while Ace sleeps on the floor. In the end he just gave her the cash rather than the shoes to buy a second bed.

It feels good to give to the less fortunate. More people should give it a try. It could spread as fast as greed did, if it just got a nice wave going. See a story like this and go "I wanna know what that feels like".

On the surface it is a heartwarming story, until you realize a homeless man does not need $500 retro Jordans.

If he's smart he sold them and bought some cheaper boots, but it isn't like someone is gonna give a bum the real price for those Jordans.

I mean you're also kinda putting the homeless guy at risk of being beat up and robbed for them too. But anything for internet clout I guess.

1) not a Trumper, but whatever, hail Donald Trump I'd it makes you feel better
2) pointing out the obvious is not being miserable, I've just seen this story a dozen times in the last 2 weeks, and I'm glad the homeless man got some shoes, but it is the equivalent to giving the guy a gucci sweater because he's cold. There's a zero percent chance dude is still rocking $500 Jordans. There's about a 99% chance dude got like $50 for them instead of what they are really worth.

If you're gonna give to the homeless that is great, I did all the time when I lived in a rough town. If you really care, sell the Jordans and get the man some air shaqs and a room for the night. People aren't making tik tok fame for doing that though, that is where my cynicism lies.

You do realize they bumped into each other and these were the shoes she was wearing at the time?

This wasn't like a planned businsess enterprise. She saw a dude fishing in the trash for boxes to put on his feet so she gave him the shoes she had to hand...

Being a dick about this isn't being cynical, it's being dumb.

It's not even hindsight, it's just silly.

"Why didn't she have a series of decent quality low priced shoes behind the counter in preperation for giving away to homeless dudes incase she met one?" is seriously your take away from this story?

She knew the guy because he hung around the store. She didn't just randomly bump into the guy.

Or at least that was the version of the story I saw on cbs nightly news about 2 weeks ago

That is what I said in my first post. You're putting a target on his back straight up.

I'm just being realistic about the situation, there are plenty of ways to help the homeless. Giving them designer shoes is NOT it lol.

Performative charity is annoying. Could have just bought the guy a couple pairs of $20 shoes and told nobody about it. If the money being raised was for the homeless, you could at least say it led to something positive, but just more pointlessly expensive shoes instead.

Well it kinda did, because instead of replacing the shoes she gave away they just gave her cash. So if she got those J's for retail, the liquor store worker is the one who profited, unless she just jumped on Stock-X and bought the same pair of J's for $500.

Still doesn't change the fact that the homeless guy, at best, hocked the original pair for $75, and at worst, was savagely beaten in an alley for them.

I think Yemmy might be out here beating up the homeless for their shoes. He seems to be really adamant about that happening. Not cool bro. Not. Cool.
