there's a talking whale who is subtitled in papyrus font and it experiences existential pain. it can understand sign language and has brain fluid that reverses human aging. also receives several cheer worthy moments throughout the movie. this alone basically makes the movie good but then you also have lots of badass action scenes and an incredible cgi rendered world that you can't believe isn't real while watching it. good dose of terrible james cameron dialogue and a contrived story full of tropes you've seen before but it doesn't really matter since none of that is the point really. i am a noted big time hater of cgi but honestly if all of them took place in an imaginative world like this while filmed in 3d i would be significantly less annoyed with its pervasiveness.
