Current Events > ok so im trying a new strategy to clear my gaming backlog. each day i play a....

different game. thats the only game i can play that day
this way im playing 7 games are once like how before streaming services you had to watch tv shows one day of a week

monday - phantasy star 2
tuesday - chained echoes
wednesday - persona 5 royal
thursday -tales of vesperia
friday - final fantasy 7 remake
saturday - octopath traveler
sunday - fire emblem three houses

aside from phantasy star 2 those are all games i have but havent beaten yet.
i get into a cycle where i get really into a game but eventually get burnt out on it by overplaying it and then just not finishing it
im hoping that this will prevent that and let me finish them

i need to finish octopath and fire emblem before octopath 2 and engage come out

its been my favorite genre since i was a kid
i do play other games like uncharted, last of us, resident evil but i dont seek those games out.
like i had no plans on playing the new god of war game but my ps5 came with a code for it so now im gonna try it out
and i am going to play gotham knights

but yeah like 90% of what i play are just jrpgs

and like i said its been really fun so far

im actually playing both the original phantasy star 2 game and the ps2 remake of phantasy star 2 too compare them
i did the same thing with the first phantasy star
i just got past the nei scene in both versions

With how slow and dialogue heavy most jrpgs are will it take you a year to beat all these games?

I bought it from website in Germany, so I'll not likely actually play it until February or March.

that is a lot of JRPGs

you'll be playing persona 5 royal for like 2 years

I probably have 2-300 Switch games now, and that's just physical.

That seems like that would take a long time to finish 1 game. Why not just start 1 game and don't touch anything else until it's finished? Do you lose interest really fast or something?

actually i tend to get really close to the end when i do that
but then i get a bit burnt out on the game and take a break. but he breaks tend to last a very long time that by the time i get back into the game its been so long i feel it would just be better to restart
thus starting a vicious cycle where many games i love i never finish

like ive played legend of the dragoon like 20 times in the past 20 years
but i only beaten it 5 times

ive been playing treasure of the rudras since i was in grade 8 but only beat it for the first time last year
im 34 now.

thats why i wanna try something new
see if i can avoid the burn out i often get towards the end of a long jrpg

i think its safe to say im gonna die alone

so problem
today is my final fantasy 7 remake day but the ff7 remake day is still 8 hours away from being installed
i suppose i can make this my octopath day and do ff7 tomorrow

its jumped down to just 1H 47M left so today can still be FF7 day
which is good cause im half way through octopath and havent touched it in a year

im excited
i actually got ff7R for ps4 when it was free on ps+ but that version doesnt upgrade to ps5 and no yuffie DLC
and i never got to finish it cause my ps4 broke down

initially when i beat a game i planned to put a new game in its place immediately
but instead of doing that i will make that a free day where i can play any game i want out of the other 6
so that if i beat phantasy star 2 first i can then us mondays to play whatever game im furthest in

thats a really sweet thing to say

im getting a new computer so i dropped octopath from my list since i have it on steam and will need to restart once i get my new computer anyway
so i replaced it with gothan knights

i use a different character each time i got out
i use a random list generator to decide the order then i redo it once ive cycled through everyone once

its tuesday again so i can play chained echos which is so good
