Heard that despite being cringe and yuri bait as shit, the combat system is weirdly solid, so sure. I play Oneechanbara for the same reason. First reaction is that it is surprisingly Persona-esque with the school motif and how it passes time, and I'm imagining the whole ring thing is basically a confidant system. The Commons is essentially Mementos it seems.

Everything is extremely slow. From how my character moves during exploration, to combat animations, to how dialogue is structured. For the last one I imagine it's about depicting Hinako's self doubt and it will get slightly better as she learns to believe in herself. But overall it definitely feels like a game made for a handheld in terms of its performance and it's kind of lame.

Wasn't ready for the weird magical teenage girl nudity transformations and Hinako's "reflector" self looks extremely stupid with the hemacromia (or whatever it's called) and the hair change colour. I like Lime's design the best. Mr. Bear is cute.

The typos, though. They're everywhere. Sometimes a sentence ends in one line and the period that ends it on the next line. Localization was probably not a high priority.

And yeah, so far the combat system is pretty decent. I really like the timeline as a motif for turn indicator, though I'm having a hard time seeing on it how delay actions actually affect turns. I do imagine though that once I get some better abilities to deal with different situations it will become a cake walk.

I find Hinako and her DeadBalletDream conceit fairly engaging for a dum anime protagonist character. So that's nice.

The DLC is disturbing in both price and content.

Underappreciated gem of a game

The sequel is a lot better. This one has a lot of problems but they improved a bunch of stuff with the sequel. But this imo is a really good franchise. Not many games from the magical girl genre too

I like the combat system a lot. And the leveling system is cool too, but you can't really grind.
