Knives Out is better but I still liked it. The one thing I didn't like was when they interrupted the movie halfway through for a straight half hour of nothing but exposition.

Disagreed heavily, while some things were very convenient like the sister surviving the bullet shot or somehow her destroying stuff caused everyone else to turn on the billionaire guy? , but otherwise it was a solid flick overall and all the cast did an amazing job in it. You can tell everyone had an amazing time filming it.

It was ok, but him saying the billionaire was a buffoon when he did get away with the murder was meh. He switched the drinks out, distracts the story about the almost crash and shoots the twin all on the fly. He burns the napkin and Helen lost, so she burns down the place. Guess that's the twist ending.

He called him a buffoon because it was all obvious and he was giving Miles the benefit of the doubt because he thought he was smarter and would not leave such obvious clues. The twist ending was it seemed like Helen was just having a tantrum and destroying trivial things to let off steam until you see she was handed klear and was setting up to use it to destroy the whole compound. She was using the same logic as Miles in that he will have no proof that she committed any of those crimes and it was simply klear being an unstable substance.

I felt like it was super callous and fucked for Benoit to giver her that. He pulled her into this whole mystery, got her shot, and then gives her the key to explode the whole property while he runs away to watch with Daryll. IRL everyone in the building would have died, including her. He should've told her to run while he blew up the place.

The scene with her running to open the Mona Lisa cage was so well shot

the theme of her needing to 'be batman' because mr. benoit couldn't was set up right from the beginning. in the end, he basically said to her, 'this is as far as i can legally take it. if you want justice, it's time for some vigilante shit.'

This is absolutely 100% the message of the movie.

Not all things in this world can be solved by following the rules. Whether those rules are the laws of society, polite social mores, or the conventions of detective fiction.

Blanc solved the case but at the end of the day, who cares? Bron can still get away with it because who will stop him?

Sometimes we have to break a convention or a civility or a bit of polite society in order to get justice. Sometimes we gotta go Batman, especially on those who know they can break the rules and not suffer consequences for it.

The loss of the actual Mona Lisa (in this universe) also throws out the reminder that some sacrifices might need to be made for it.

My only minor complaint is that the message is almost TOO obvious as to where that justice needs to be aimed, but as this movie was written and filmed before 2022, I'd say that's just a matter of unlucky coincidence that it got so obvious.

I loved it, about the same as the first movie. Honestly my only problem has destroying the Mona Lisa.

Not saying I have a problem with the presence of a misdirect and to say it makes the first half a waste of time is fucking stupid, but I kinda feel the way it was executed in the film makes the middle third a big ol' exposition dump of sorts which is a bit of a pacing killer, especially the parts when we're seeing the same exact events again only from a different camera angle. Then again, I saw it back when it was in theaters a month ago so I may be misremembering some details and maybe on rewatch now I'd feel different, but I'm going off of memory here, it's still a good movie either way, and Shapiro's other critiques still show him being a dummy overall anyway.

Fun movie, but the intro was terrible. It was like a rapid fire barrage of the worst Marvel Movie "humor." Also some of the characters felt pointless, especially the scientist guy. You could remove him from the movie and nothing would change.
