You are trapped in a room. In the middle of the room is a cat trapped in a glass box. There's a button in front of the glass box. A video plays and a masked figure explains to you your situation. The glass box and the exit to the room will open in 5 minutes. However, if you press the button an electric shock will be delivered to the cat and the exit to the room will open sooner. Pressing the button will trigger 1 out of 3 randomized settings. 1 setting will deliver a mild shock that will simply disturb the cat. The second setting will deliver a painful shock, although not strong enough to permanently injure the cat. The third setting will deliver a shock strong enough to kill the cat. Regardless of the outcome the glass box will open after the cat is shocked and you will receive $30,000.

If you refuse to press the button you get nothing. Both the glass box and the exit will open. You are free to take the cat.

I am really not a fan of cats. But I don't think I would feel good about a killing anything like that .

While I like cats but am not crazy about them, I'm not a morally bankrupt sociopath who would hurt living things for money, even for large amounts like that.

30k, though I'd prefer it have a more quick and painless death. Electrocution is supposedly a pretty bad way to go. Kan go on for quite a while and you feel everything.
