Secret of the Forest Uncontrollable Unwavering Resolve First matchup is kinda painful because I supported Genshin but I nominated CT. I like the CT song better ofc but dang both are good. Second matchup is pretty easy; I like Uncontrollable sorta but really don't like Face of the Deep. Snubs matchup is close because both are really great. I feel like the woodwind melody in College was a little too loud/rough on the ears though despite being good overall, and Resolve is super epic, so I'm giving the edge to SC2. Secret of the Forest is great as always. The electric guitar and erhu combo in Burst into Flames is really neat. Burst into Flames has the better instrumentation, but Secret of the Forest has the better melody. Pretty difficult match tbh. Somehow, match 2 is even more insane than match 1. The Face of the Deep is such a great prog piece. By far my favorite Risk of Rain track in general. Great mix, synths, insane sax, and drums. Unfortunately, it's up against one of my favorite battle themes of all time. Uncontrollable is so good, the dynamic between Mika Kobayashi and mpi's vocals is fantastic. The electric guitar is pretty insane. The actual structure of the song is pretty unique, going intro-verse-chorus-break-bridge-secondary chorus-outro. The secondary chorus is especially impressive utilizing two melodies sung by each singer intertwining each other. It really is a top-notch vocal composition. Unwavering Resolve is significantly better than the other SC2 songs I've heard, and even though only the trumpet is real here, the samples sound significantly better than they did last round with Brave Sword. Good melody and percussion as well. St. Ursula Medical College is nice, but definitely the weakest song of the day. Not much else to say on it. Insanely good day today.
