Seems like really bad design to have 1 bridge for main command of the ship and a second bridge for main command of the ship but worse lighting. I mean in canon what did the battle bridge even do that the main bridge couldn't? The Enterprise isn't a military ship, it's an exploration vessel with a large civilian population (including children) on board. The idea was that the civilians would gather in the saucer section and retreat to a starbase or allied territory while the officers in the stardrive section dealt with the threat. Realistically, the Enterprise should have separated way more often lol. The low-light thing is honestly just for dramatic effect. Voyager does the same thing when it goes into red alert.
