It is an actual question too, I'm not just talking shit about gamefaqs because I feel some type of way.

Am I just more used to going to websites with higher traffic now(reddit, Instagram etc) or is gamefaqs now moving a lot slower than a 2-3 years ago? Hell even a few months ago it seems like topics purged more quickly

Is there a metric on that "other site" that can answer this question?

There is not much Current Events happening right now. When the queen of England died, this place was lit up like fireworks

Most Zoomies prefer tik tok discord etc, they don't like forums. I don't even expect reddit to survive. Maybe a few holdouts till the inevitable end, no new blood means death.

Just look at the number of topics compared to 10 years ago. There is definitely a decline. Im not against it though as it was too fast for me back then but doesnt bode well for the future. Especially with the mods being more strict gear on gear meaning even if we do get new blood they get modded and never come back for sOne thing they wouldnt have been modded five years ago.

Mods being more brutal and new accounts getting slaughtered over minor mistakes

Young people not liking the old message board style

Existing users all gradually leaving for various reasons and not being replaced because of the first 2 points

Whether it's dying or not, there's still a decent amount of discussion to be had. Kinda like those online games that only have 100 players or fewer on at a time, if you have enough for a match then you're good to go.

It is and it is sad. I have social issues. This amhas been compounded by covid. So this place is my only source for meaningful reactions with other humans. I don't know what I will do when this place dies for good.

Of course its dying. There are no new users coming here (alt accounts does not count) and every time someone gets banned or leave permanently this board gets less and less active. This board will look just like RI and PotD in 10 years. I guarantee it.

Also people rarely use gamefaqs anymore for game guides because there are much better sources out there in the internet. Youtube is a big one.

Maybe but it still kinda sucks. CE used to be like NYC. Now it's like a small town. Many years ago, topics would be made and then fall off the first page in like 5 minutes. The population of CE today is a tiny fraction of the maximum population CE had at its height of glory

When's the last time you've seen someone post "CE is fast tonight"

This topic comes up every few weeks now. >_> Of course it's dying. And of course it's slower than a few years ago and even a few months ago. The more time goes by, the lower the "current active users" gets.

I much prefer text that I can ctrl+f on, but also I avoid using guides, which is even easier these days with games being way too clear and having pretty much no cryptic, hard-to-figure-out parts. I don't bother with trying to 100% games either.

Seems fine to me. Lots of topics to read.

Very true. Halo CE on PC was like that. Might still be, my computer is fucked up and I haven't been on in months. But there was usually always around 100 people on and it was a blast. Saw a lot of the same people, talked a lot of crap and just enjoyed the game. Plus everyone was freaking amazing at the game so the competition was great. Typing this is inspiring me to fix my computer and get back on.
