i remember y2k being on the news. my dad just assured us "i checked the computers and they're fine" and we didn't question it since he was a pretty senior software engineer. there were no technical issues for us. new years itself wasn't too eventful; assembled some robotic bugs my brother and i received as christmas gifts. we stepped outside to look at the night sky as the clock struck midnight.

Yeah, kind of dumb since 2001 was the first year of the millennium
