Been thinking of this since seeing the trailer for That 90's Show without Hyde (not that I'm comparing Richard's directly to Masterson of course, we're talking about a guy who fucked up once versus a psycho, but it's all the same to some people).

Every other major player is still active including the creator.

Still one of the most popular and beloved sitcoms of all time, and likely watched more regularly on streaming than any active sitcom even now.

The flow of that show could absolutely give way to hundreds of new episodes just from being set in the modern day.

I'm not saying it would have worked out or even been a good idea, but honestly the only reason I can think of as to why some bigwig exec hasn't just made it happen by sheer force of will at this point is that they didn't want to deal with the Michael Richards headache, and obviously you can't not have Kramer or recast him.

I honestly dont think Larry and Jerry would have been particularly interested in reviving it regardless.

I was about to say the same thing. I doubt that those two would risk tarnishing what they accomplished with the show's original run.

Nah, never got the feeling they would have wanted to bring it back.

Without the Richards thing I bet we would have gotten a friends style reunion episode though

Seinfeld did come back - they did a full season reunion on Curb.

They did their fake reunion thing with him on Curb Your Enthusiasm only three years after the standup incident (they even reference it in the show), so I dont think hes persona non grata

The series finale made it clear they were done with it

Seinfeld does not strike me as someone that's particularly interested in working again. He seems to enjoy tinkering with his cars and popping up here and there once in a while. He's not hurting for money since he's collecting like hundreds of millions each year from streaming and syndication. Louis-Dreyfus is not hurting for work either. Only Jason Alexander and Michael Richards are in need of help.

Even then Alexander gets plenty of voice work

No, they're all incredibly rich and are doing lots of other creative & successful things, I don't think there's a scenario where they would have returned for any amount of money.

I don't think the thing with Michael Richards would affect anything. If they had ever wanted to bring it back, they could have easily left him out if necessary.

Hate speech is literally violence, so I don't think you can really differentiate between Richards and Masterson tbh

In fact, it might be worse because Richards' victims were from an already marginalized community.
