Hadn't played it on PSP. I meant to have an ongoing topic for it but... honestly the game wasn't all that interesting for that. You'd just be getting mission progress updates as posts. >_>

I mean Zack is a sweet boy and all and it's nice to get some more on him, but the story just seems to want to be a mess for no particular reason. Like the writer wanted to try for a complex story but only had a PSP game worth of space to work with so chopped it all up to still be confusing but still just pretty short.

Angeal's okay. Genesis is awful. Best part is Nibelheim.

I have two missions left to do, and I gotta fill up my DMW. Probably should have let that run today while I was at work, even though I have only four scenes left that I have to see.

Everyone told me about Costly Punch. Not everyone told me about Darkness. Figured that one out on my own lol.

Complete the game with a Phoenix Down.

Genesis is the single worst character in all of Final Fantasy imo.

Yeah I was really hoping that just maybe they'd fix up the story a bit for the remake.

Everything just feels more awkward and condensed now. Also, the fact that you have like half the missions in the game left to finish even if you've completed almost everyone you can by the end of chapter 7 and are just too overpowered already with 100 more missions before the rest of the story is fucking annoying.

It's funny that with all they changed for FF7R they left this one completely alone. That said, I've seen the list of quality-of-life changes for Reunion and I'm glad they implemented them. The DMW would be an absolute pain in the ass if it stopped battle every time we had a line-up.

Oh there is one thing they changed for Reunion, although it's more subtle. The final post-credits scene leading into Aerith walking out of the alley is 100% the FF7R cutscene.

I'll never understand people who think FF7Remake has excessive padding, when games like this used to and still exist

I'm playing it for the first time too, and yeah, Genesis is awful. He strikes me as a parody of Sephiroth that people who hate Sephiroth thinks he acts like.

I kind of like the story for the most part, but having a chopped up and confusing story is sort of FF7's biggest trait. The original is kind of a mess too.

No it isn't. Cloud on the train is crisis core. His uniform pitch black instead of faded like in remake

Wish it was 100% I can buy cloud had a dark black uniform in crisis core but I'd like to think by remake it just faded.

It's something that bugged me I'm the original too as og 7 had cloud wearing purple. So that fact crisis core never gets that scene to line up with clouds actual color or outfit bugs me. At least in that scene this time around cause as said I assume 7 takes place years later I could buy his outfit fading

Well only thing it should have is maybe some dust on it. Mold mildew I guess.

I literally thought that was Cloud's main outfit he was getting, with the bolts sticking out of the single pauldron and everything.

Gackt was really popular at the time, and Nomura was a fan. Blame all how marketable the singer was back then. Still would love to see where Genesis went after CCR.

I'm glad they didn't do that. Wouldn't make sense. Years later after he's done some merc work and doesn't have shinra keeping in a new uniform then it makes sense. Either he decided to customize it or was made to due to wear and tear.

Yeah, after looking at stuff from the PSP version, I'm glad I didn't play that one. The fights coming to a complete stop when the DMW gets three characters sounds awful.

Also, I'm working through the missions right now, and they are kind of a slog because of just how many there are. Although it makes complete sense given that they were for a PSP game so that it would have content intended for short bursts of playtime.
