No. Remember that CTE study from a few years ago?

they scanned players from all levels of play, and even kids playing for school had signs of CTE.

something like 99% of players they tested. Insane.

edit: I wasnt right on the specifics, but heres the link. https://www.science.org/content/article/ninety-nine-percent-ailing-nfl-player-brains-show-hallmarks-neurodegenerative-disease

No. I'm glad I stopped playing after 1 year in middle school.

I retired as an undefeated city champion.

Pushing my son towards baseball and golf.

If he wants to play in high school, I wouldnt oppose but Ill ultimately pull the plug if he starts getting hurt

My son wants to play... He'll be in fifth grade next year so would be on the varsity team. I have my reservations but it's something he really wants to do. I've actively tried to discouraged him (in a nice way) but he still wants to do it.

I'm going to let him play because I'm hoping the good outweighs the bad.

I played football up to college (DIII) and was a semi-pro boxer for a few years after that, and my honest recommendation to my kids would be to steer them away from either sport.

But ultimately I don't think it'd be right if I stopped them from participating in any sport by the time they reach high school or especially later. That being said, I'll breathe a sigh of relief if they're more interested in non- or less-contact sports.

Neither of my daughters are interested in playing, but one plays soccer and is now old enough to use her head. Two girls on her team got concussions in the fall season...
