I've never used self-checkout. They are very rare around here.

Always. Recently had them turn me away because I had too many items. And it wasn't even that busy. Ended up waiting in line for like ten minutes for the one cashier...

Since it's two blocks away, I make weekly trips to Target for small amounts of items. I almost never have a cart. At the actual grocery store, self-checkout almost never has a line while the cashiers do, so I go for the quicker option.

Almost never when I can avoid it. Professionals are going to be better and faster at scanning and bagging items than I am. Plus, interacting with a cashier is kinda nice, even if it is a very brief interaction.

Maybe I'll do it if there's a long checkout line and I only have a few items.

"Here, let me find the bar code on 36 different cans of cat food, scan it, NOT scan the next one, place the first one in the bag, wait for the register to catch up to the fact that I've placed a single can in my bag, hope that it doesn't screw up, and THEN I can scan the second one."

Replace the cans of cat food with literally every object in my cart. And then don't get me started on what happens when you finish a bag and have to start a new one. I don't think I've ever used the check-out at the grocery store without calling over the attendant at least three times. And doesn't that kinda defeat the point if I'm monopolizing their time?

I'll use it at the hardware store when I have a single item, but considering 90% of my check-outs take place at the grocery store, no, you can keep your ****ing self check-out lines.

Always. That's the primary reason I still shop at walmart because they have an excess of self checkouts and I never have to wait for one to open up.

Can't remember the last time I dealt with an actual cashier.

If I have a small amount of items (10, maybe 15 max), which is most of the time.

Still don't understand using self-checkout for a full cart of stuff because it's meant to be a quick option for those who aren't getting a lot of stuff.

Not if I can avoid it. They're almost as packed as the regular lines here, but much slower. If there's one open (and I'm not buying alcohol) I'll take it though.
