James Bond is dead.

One of the people vying to be 007 was celebrating how we've "advanced" beyond the days of Roger Moore sleeping with three women in one movie. And, it's like, that's genuinely the thing that makes James Bond who he is. Having multiple partners isn't unethical if it's made clear that there are no obligations or commitments. But, yeah. Congrats. I can't wait to see the next gritty interpretation where they celebrate how much Bond isn't Bond anymore, then scratch their heads at why the sequels don't sell as well.

It's a self-insert playboy fantasy, a cartoon show for grown men, about a guy who travels the globe beating up colorful villains and sleeping with exotic women. That's all that Bond has ever been or should ever strive to try and be. I'd rather the character just remain dormant than become Jason Bourne with a British accent.
