A friend of mine had a volatile ex girlfriend who would overreact to the slightest things. One time they were driving and she wanted him to stop at a store and he didn't want to. She flipped out and threw herself out of the passenger side. She called the cops saying he threw her out. After examination they concluded she did it herself and she got put in psychiatric ward for a week.

Not every situation is like that but he could have done serious time for absolutely nothing.

The default state of being should be trust, but verify. Usually people dont make false accusations, and I would believe that it is more likely that a rape accusation is true rather than a lie. But always find the facts
