Well some gen Z are old enough to have their own apartment, so it's possible they pay with check, depending on the landlord.

But we're at a point now where you don't really need to write checks. So it wouldn't really be a big deal if they don't.

I've only ever written cheques for work. The one time I needed to pay for something in my personal life by cheque, I had to order a chequebook, and the ability to pay via bank transfer came in while I was waiting for it to arrive... I'd find it really strange if I was asked for a cheque these days.

How is writing a check difficult. Last I recall you just fill out the lines. Write out the amount in one spot with letters one spot with numbers. Who the check is going to and your signature

A lot of check "etiquette" is made up. You don't need to write in cursive. You don't even need to sign them well because it's not like the bank will analyze the signature.

If they can't, they can just search "how to write a cheque" on Google or whatever, and learn how to do it in seconds. And it doesn't matter if they retain that knowledge because they won't need to write another cheque for 5-10 years probably.

If you mean endorsing, then sure. But if you mean the authorized signature, then no. Banks do compare the signature to ensure you actually wrote the check.

Damn people's lives vary greatly. I write my signature probably 20 times a day on average. Even then it still sometimes comes out looking different. But you can tell it's my handwriting

I've lived in several illegal apartments, most of which the landlord required check payments. Two legal apartments, one in a complex, where they still required checks. The complex just has shitty online infrastructure, so what they can actually do through online forms is pretty limited.

Plenty of landlords and management companies still prefer checks. Especially if they're older people. Like my grandmother owns a duplex and rents one half of it. Good luck trying to get an 81 year old to use Zelle or Venmo lol

We used to have to get a money order for our rent but now its done via online. I have not written a check in years nor have I needed to. I don't even know where my check book is. I just use my debit and credit cards. Electricity, rent, phone, and internet are paid through online and are done automatically. Life is grand.

I used to pay rent with my checkbook. Every month for 8yrs. Also checks are great to have when you need them.

When my friend does mechanic for my family it's so much easier to pay with a check rather than pulling out hundreds of dollars or more. Plus you have proof of the deal.
