Laird Barron, an amazing lovecraftian horror author, is currently in the hospital following a few months of breathing issues. Going to be launching a fundraiser, since as a full time author he has no health insurance :/

Could be, but I don't think so. There's another author that's with him, John Langan, and he's giving updates, the hospital is still running tests so I doubt it's that or we'd know by now.

You can buy insurance, if you can afford it. Most authors can't, because it's expensive as fuck, especially if your state doesn't offer good options. I don't know if he couldn't afford to or just chose not to, but I'm leaning the former given being a full time author doesn't exactly pay amazingly.

He's only got one full horror novel, The Croning, which was great but not my favorite. He mostly does short stories, and either The Imago Sequence and Occultation are amazing. He also has a noir-ish detective series starting with Blood Standard that was great.

oh fuck. that sucks. i purchased the imago sequence a couple of months ago. only ended up reading half of the short stories tho.

got introduced to him from the "In a Cavern, in a Canyon" short story that was posted online.
