From everything I've seen and read, he's the victim of the media condemning him before the facts are out, with all physical evidence pointing to him having been attacked by Brown before shooting him, and having acted in good faith, but still ended up losing his job and having his entire life disrupted :/

I'm glad it sparked much needed protests, but Wilson does not seem to have been the kind of cop we should be protesting about.

Ferguson is why body cams are a good idea for police.

1000%. I'm frankly at the point where I believe if police don't have actual supporting evidence their accusations should be thrown out - simple testimony shouldn't be enough.

Oh god fuck no

ngl I do regret a lot of the cases I've argued against in the past, especially the Tamir Rice case. But this one is one that always stuck with me.

He shot a kid who had assaulted him in his car and then was charging him, shortly after the kid had robbed a convenience store. It's tragic that Brown died, but wasn't Wilson's fault.

Jesus Christ man you argued against Tamir Rice? The kid was 12 and he had a water gun or something right? Whats wrong with you

Specifically, I agreed that the shooting was bad, but I argued the officer that shot him shouldn't be the one to face the brunt of the consequences, but rather the people that hired him after it was specifically recommended he not be put on the force after he failed his weapons handling training. Essentially I looked at it as someone being put in a position they weren't qualified or trained for and left to take the fall when it inevitably went wrong.

Never argued that Rice was anything but an innocent victim though, and I don't agree with my old view on the cop either.

Oh I gotcha, I can see that. But yeah they should have all lost their jobs and faced charges imo

Instead the department got completely left off the hook. Apparently the cop that shot him was rehired in another department, who told the mayor's office that they'd done an extensive background check and he had zero marks against him. He was forced to resign 2 days after.
