Can't believe after all these years it still hasn't been topped. What was your favorite part?

The first village mob. Just because it took so long for me to beat the first time. But the gameplay was so good I couldn't not come back and try more.

The backtracking section between Del Lago and El Gigante. Legitimately scary the first time and still tense as hell on additional playthroughs because of the sheer lack of lights and heavy rain effects. Definitely possible to die on Professional if you're not paying attention to all surroundings.

Wish there were more rainy bits in the game.

that rainy bit with the chainsaw sisters was genius. one of the scariest moments in all of horror gaming.

Pfft, theres at least half a dozen Mario games that are better than RE4. Dont get me wrong, its a great game, I played it 4 times over the years(that is a lot for me). But It boggles my mind that people have been fellating it since the day it came out.

It boggles my mind that you think it's sensical to put Mario games up against RE. Like that's not completely just up to preference at that point.

If you like platformers most, you're gonna prefer the best platformers to 99% of other games. If you like TPS's most, you're gonna like the best TPS's over 99% of other games. You can think liking one over the other gives you some type of high ground. But it's literally just preference. Now if you're like "Dead Space did everything better" or something, you could at least turn that into a conversation. But having a conversation between Mario and RE just makes zero sense.

"Uh, you can't even build up jumps in RE4. So, Mario is better!"

Unless you can somehow tie them together and make them comparable, there's no conversation there

Mercs as HUNK or Krauser is way up there.
Running laps of NG+ with a maxed out TMP is pretty great too.

Couldn't agree more.

RE2, 3, Code Veronica (Dreamcast) and Revelations 2 are better than it.

Shooting an enemy with a shotgun to the head was satisfying.

Dude, I could have used any series from any genre, and the point would have been the same. The only reason I said Mario is it was what came to mind.

And it would of made the same lack of sense if you said Tetris or XCOM or Metal Slug. It's uselessness of a statement makes it equivalent to saying nothing. When the games are nothing alike you'll hear people say "I prefer" rather than "is better" because they know it makes no sense to make it a competition.

But tbf, the TC said it's the best game of all time, which sets it up to compete with any other game. So, I guess you're not out of pocket. Lol. I could just delete the first part of this post before that realization, but eh.

I actually just went through your end of this for not immediately liking Odyssey and thinking it was boring since you only had to get all the easy moons to get to the credits. But after the credits it became exactly what I wanted from it. I told my friend it was extremely overrated and he wasn't a fan of that statement.

Sunshine... that one was mediocre even for the time.

It's about cleaning up crap. All the jumps are super easy and it focuses less on platforming for things that are far less satisfying.

I could see a case being made for REmake, and feel like that and 4 are well beyond any others, with 5 being a distant third.

One of the cooler aspects of the game is the all new tropical cast of enemies. The FLUDD you use to clean up crap isn't that cool though. Not even close.

Nope. Still GTA San Andreas for me.

I honestly kinda feel like it is, or at least tied with Witcher 3, Wind Waker, and the entire Monster Hunter franchise.
