Yes, if you like killing zombies, video game parkour, and generic open worlds. Its a great game. You might want to consider getting the complete edition, even if you have to pay more. The Following is great, and definitely worth paying for.

Absolutely. It's a fun game with an interesting story. The early game does a good job of giving you a sense of dread during the night.

You eventually get good at avoiding the deadly night zombies(forget what they are called), especially on any difficulty other than on the hardest they appear on the mini map with a vision cone so you know what direction they are facing. Also, you can even kill them with the stronger weapons you start finding when you level up enough.

It does get compared to the Parkour in Mirror's Edge (which I also loved), but it's definitely different. Dying Light's movement isn't as fast and fluid as that game. And it's open world, so moving from point A to point B isnt as straightforward.

I did enjoy the Parkour in Dying Light though.

The small DLC can be done whenever, as they don't add any new story.

However, the main DLC, titled The Following, should absolutely not be done before you compete the main story. You can start it as soon as you compete the prologue. However, it is content that assumes you have a high level character, so it would be extremely difficult to do early.

Plus, the story of the following takes place after the main game, so... it kind of spoils some things.

Also, I saw slow-mo kills in a DLC trailer--does the man game have those too?
Yes, that's a part of the main game.

In my 40-50 hours of playing, I felt like I liked it maybe 10 of those hours. The rest felt like I was going through the motions while everything I didn't like was at the forefront of my thoughts. I tried hard since it was one the 2 games I paid $60 for last year. Elden Ring was the 2nd, so that solo'd my year.

I like the first Dying Light solo on Nightmare mode. Because it turns the beginning into a very fun survival horror and morphs into an action game as you proceed where you gotta constantly use buffs and be strategic. And DL2 decided to only have easier difficulties and take away guns. So, it basically ripped away everything I liked about how Inplayed the first. Especially that slow build in power. Instead nothing actually feels threatening. A lot of this is personal preference stuff.

Like, if you think this looks good to play with friends, nothing I can share would matter to you.

Gotcha. I was kind of thinking it would be those 2 things. I hated the removal of guns, but I enjoyed the crossbow you can get, so it didn't bother me as much as I thought it would. And I felt there was still progression with the melee weapons.

And I actually liked the changes to the difficulty. I didn't feel constantly tense while exploring at night anymore. So I didn't feel like I had to be constantly wary of the time.

But I know a lot of people hated those changes. So I understand where you're coming from.

Yeah. I seem to like a lot of difficulty stuff others find annoying. Like spikes that keep you out of areas and enemies that can kill you in a few hits while being sponges lol. It's not even that I'm better at the games, I just don't mind dying a lot. If I don't die in a game a decent amount of times, I start getting bored really fast.

Which is also something they messed up in the sequel. I think they updated it after I got rid of it so you could do it normally tho. But initially you had to vault over someone in ordwe to dropkick someone else after. So, they took away the ability to set up dropkicks whenever you wanted with ease and impossible to do it to single enemies. 2 made such jarring decisions. For me it felt like it was made by people who didn't understand what made the first one fun.
