The point deduction is for the stun/knockdown delays which breaks the momentum.

I heard the re-release wasn't good but not sure why

It's a really good beat-em-up. But if you dont like Beat-em-ups, then it probably isnt for you

Pretty much everything, and I otherwise don't care about the Scott Pilgrim franchise at all. I was really annoyed when they delisted it, I hadn't gotten the DLC yet.

besides the great art and music, it just has better gameplay than others i've played. you can roll, block, parry, grab, etc, on top of unique special moves each character can unlock. you have practical options, it's intuitive, it just feels good

This. It's a really really good beat em up. For fans of the genre, it was just a ton of fun

Really OP double jump which doubles as an attack that lets you juggle enemies forever.
Good ass music.
Dr Doom Foot Dive is in the game.

Nothing. The game, much like the movie, sucked.

Reminds me of River City Ransom on NES and that alone is pretty great

I thought it was just ok too. Movement was a little floaty for me, enemies can often feel cheap, and the leveling system (which isn't even explained to you) makes it kinda broken especially on replays or if you're playing coop where one character is leveled and the other isn't.

The music is best part by far

I'd agree that the leveling / stat system is my one big negative against the game. Once you get even an inkling of how it works, there's virtually no middle ground between 'getting stomped by grunts in stage 2' and 'effortlessly breezing through the game.'

I will say though that the barrier for more-or-less unlocking God Mode being paying off Scott's late fees at the video store was a pretty cute reference.

I mean compared to streets of rage 4/shredders revenge (for examples of modern beat em ups), SCs mechanics are ancient....

you have to remember this came out in like 2010, at the beginning of the resurgence of retro style games. it was great at it's time.

Well...it is a 12 year old game and you're comparing it to games that came out only a year or less from now.

Nah it was pretty generously received before it got delisted.

The issue is that it's an old game and there's better classic beat-em-ups out now.

Go on Steam and look at the reviews, it's getting dumped on.
Ubisoft Ubisofted the only Ubisoft game which was good enough not to feel like an Ubisoft game.

It's getting dumped on because it's a bad port and denuvo...not the actual game itself

As far as beat em ups go its extremely basic mechanically. But if its suppose to be like older beat em ups then i guess it does that.

Yeah, I actually laughed reading that. Shredder's Revenge is a fun game, but is easily as basic as Scott Pilgrim, if not more, and even easier to turn into a complete cakewalk. Five seconds into the first level everyone figures out the taunt refills the super meter and you can just spam your way to victory.

I'll be honest I maxed out 4 of the characters before I realized what taunt did.

SP is just missing so much basic control of even turtles in time/HH.....

Fight N Rage is sooooo much better.
