When I was a kid, maybe eight or nine, my mom was doing something or other at a car wash. I think picking up some empty barrels for my uncle. Any way, we were there for a bit, so I was just walking around the parking lot. Two dudes were in line for the car wash with their windows down and one of them looked over at me and said, "Damn, that's the ugliest kid I've seen in a long time."

That uh.

Was not great for my self esteem <_<

I was an ugly kid that became a reasonably attractive adult, I got a lot of shit in elementary school and middle school til I hit puberty.

I remember our gym had mats hanging on the wall, and some kids threw me behind one and started slamming me against the wall, clocked my head hard on the concrete wall, had a goose egg and mild concussion. That was maybe 7th grade.

When I walk by mirrors. Worse if naked at the time.

I broke one of my front teeth in half on a beer bottle and had to go a whole weekend before I could go get it fixed. My smile was something from a horror movie.

You know what the worst is? People being like I cant believe you think youre unattractive! Youre a good looking guy so its like.. ohhh so thats why every time I ask someone out I get a look of horror, or I have to hear from my friends about them suggesting me to girls and the girls making like a disgusted face. Or why I never match with anyone on dating apps.

She then starts calling people over to look at them and it gets a bit like that scene from (I think) Theres Something About Mary where the guy gets his dick caught in his fly and more and more people are coming, making comments, poking and flicking them.

One of my mates has very small nipples. Were talking disproportionately, absurdly small. They look like theyve been drawn on.

Hes turned it into a talking point and just run with it.

Just always. I've never been insulted over my looks or anything, but I've always been pretty ashamed of myself in general. Was mistreated by my dad, brother, and basically all my classmates. So I never developed any type of positive self esteem.

Then as an older teenager, I started getting compliments on how I look, and once was mistaken for a TV star. So, I had hoped that maybe it was all in my head. But the reactions I've gotten over the years has proven otherwise. There just seems to be something inherently wrong with me that makes people ignore me. Then when I step up and make myself known I just get shot down again.

So, I certainly feel ugly. But I suppose it's more of a longing to be wanted more than ugliness itself. Idk.

When I was in 7th grade I had a giant cyst on my face. The girl I liked saw me and yelled "EWWWWWW!!!!!!!". That moment changed me.

Conversely, I've never felt more attractive than I do now.

When I stepped on a scale and it revealed I weighed 335 lbs

I had bad acne in my teens; one time I got so fed up that I scrubbed my nose with a washcloth until it bled and scabbed over. That was fun to try and explain to my classmates.

Then one time in my late 20's (and at or around my peak weight), I decided to shave my beard completely off after letting my hair grow out. I was out in public for a walk (also happened to be wearing ill-fitting clothing), saw my reflection in a window, and was shocked and depressed at how much I looked like a fat middle-aged woman.
