Why is this guy trying to equate using turn signals with letting your car warm up. One is to prevent accidents and one is to burn more fuel for no reason

It might be no reason for you. But I hate the cold Id rather get in a warm car

Do you also always wear a seat belt? signal when changing lanes? turn on your headlights just because it's cloudy ? as long as you know what you're doing you don't really need to be so cautious when driving. People that constantly speed and change lanes without signaling because they are confident in their driving ability. People are more vigilant than you think.
Yes, yes and yes. I always do all of those things.

Are you saying that it's fine to drive with no seat belt and to never use a turn signal, because you're confident in your driving ability? Do you not understand that the point of turn signals is so that the people around you know what you're going to do? Being confident doesn't turn everyone into mind readers.

I think the confusion might be the emergency brakes being called the parking brakes used when putting the car in park. (Including myself)

I think most if not all here not using it are saying they don't use the emergency break.

Nah, there's no confusion on what we're referring to. The confusion is to why people don't use it. The prevailing logic here is "I've never used it and I've never had any problems. So I don't see the point in using it."

TC definitely meant the emergency brake considering one of the poll options talks about a manual transmission. You can't shift into park on a manual.

Regardless if you didn't confuse it, there's still was a confusion in this topic. Myself confused it, until I stopped to take a second look at what the tc was talking about and some being confused how one could possibly not use their brakes.

Newer cars tend to pester the driver of they forgot to switch the car from Drive to Park. It however does not do this for the emergency brakes. Just parking in general, it's not really crazy to believe people place their cars in park, but don't use the emergency brakes.

Also some do also call the emergency brake the parking brake. Which no, not everyone uses the emergency brakes.

By not taking any drivers ed classes and just being taught by their mum who wasnt a good driver to begin with. You can drive at night without headlights without crashing but its still not a good idea. And these people would think just because they drove at night for 16 years without headlights means that you never really need to use headlights at all except for if its super foggy.

Your comparison is absurd.

Not everyone parks on some kind of hill or slope, with some danger of the car rolling away. It's also incredibly paranoid to think that's very probable.

Also not everything you learn in fucking drivers ed needs to be followed to a t. For example hands on 10 and 2? Unless you are a scary.

Simply putting the shift in park is enough for most cars on a non slope/hill. Unless you possess an old ass car.

Not anymore because I have an automatic. When I had a manual, I put the park brake on every time. I also like it in neutral when I started it up. I always got so pissed when someone left it in first because I would instinctively let off the clutch and kill the car. My dad did that once and I almost got a giant, stone pot.

Edit: Wow, I didnt expect this topic to turn into a pissing contest.

This isn't really a debate, I'm just telling people aren't paranoid like you are about parking and using the emergency brakes.

Everyone isn't paranoid like you are that the emergency brakes are needed for parking your car not on slopes or hills. Simply putting the shift in park is enough for most cars on a non slope/hill. Unless you possess an old ass car.

I know this may rock your world, but a lot of the shit they teach in drivers ed, and any other thing you are clinging to is ignored by drivers. Most don't have their cars totaled and messed up from ignoring it.

It's also not comparable to driving at night with the lights off. The probability of causing a vehicles collision is not even close to shifting your gear in park, but not using the emergency brakes too.
