Do you also always wear a seat belt? signal when changing lanes? turn on your headlights just because it's cloudy ? as long as you know what you're doing you don't really need to be so cautious when driving. People that constantly speed and change lanes without signaling because they are confident in their driving ability. People are more vigilant than you think.

This is also true If I try to drive before its warmed up much, I sometimes only have a very small clear view out of the windshield And its definitely not really safe enough to drive like that

I think the confusion might be the emergency brakes being called the parking brakes used when putting the car in park. (Including myself)

I think most if not all here not using it are saying they don't use the emergency break.

Nah, there's no confusion on what we're referring to. The confusion is to why people don't use it. The prevailing logic here is "I've never used it and I've never had any problems. So I don't see the point in using it."

By not taking any drivers ed classes and just being taught by their mum who wasnt a good driver to begin with. You can drive at night without headlights without crashing but its still not a good idea. And these people would think just because they drove at night for 16 years without headlights means that you never really need to use headlights at all except for if its super foggy.

I don't see a problem with using the parking brake. It takes a second to activate/deactivate. It's not like it's some big inconvenience, so why not use it?

I know this may rock your world, but a lot of the shit they teach in drivers ed, and any other thing you are clinging to is ignored by drivers. Most don't have their cars totaled and messed up from ignoring it.

It's also not comparable to driving at night with the lights off. The probability of causing a vehicles collision is not even close to shifting your gear in park, but not using the emergency brakes too.

So dont forget? Its really not difficult. If youre forgetting that, what else are you forgetting to do when driving?

It's a parking break. For parking. Every time.

Ive been driving for over 20 years and Ive only used the damn thing a handful of times, when parking on an incline.

At no time would it have made any difference to put it on.
