OK, so. After a lot of thinking...

-Kirby probably manages to survive Estinien's dive and fight him to a standstill until he dies. Without the Resonance and forcefields he dies instantly due to how powerful Dragonshadow Dive is btw, Zenos form is key for saving his life here.
-Gael and friends don't wait for Estinien and Vrtra to arrive. They probably assume they'll find them already in the thick of it and go looking for them.
-The K. Rool killbox is very real. Him, Sagat and Kazooie can convincingly defeat Gael, Vivi and Haurchefant, though not without taking some damage.
-Vrtra is too big to just slip in through the tunnels. He'll have to bulldoze his way around, tearing walls down. This will slow him and Estinien down further.
-Estinien and Vrtra vs. the rest of Kirby's team is a very tough matchup, but with Vrtra having to make his own entrances, his mobility is limited. Lack of flight hurts Banjo a lot here, but I think he can just barely manage to sac himself to get Vrtra.
-Estinien is so good he probably manages to defeat everyone else after a long fight. Unfortunately, K. Rool gets a second crack at him and a free guaranteed shot he can take his time to line up. This is the clincher.

It's very very very close though. Well-fought match imo.

So can Banjo barrel into an enemy and remove them from the match if he manages to touch them?

Like this seems super easy win for Kirby's team if Banjo can do that.

Yes, he can. Just one though, it's a mutual kill.

This is true, but only once, he deletes himself in the process afterwards.

Other question is this terrain big enough that teams likely see each other before Kirby expires.

Glancing over arguments it seems like it's not that big

Feel like in the 3v3 Sagat's team has a slight edge due to Kirby's strong copy and K. Rools copy of his strong copy.
Sneak Attack K. Rool mops up the rest even if his team loses.

Leader arguments were too long sorry. I did read parts of the topic but I'm not reading that.

Alright so this one is actually very tricky because it hinges entirely on Banjo being able to kamikaze Vrtra. (words I never thought I'd type, there.) Kirby flying outside to die valiantly in battle saves his team from getting aoe dragon-dived, and gives them time to set up the kill box. I think Kirby-zenos lasts the full five minutes but unfortunately that's all he gets, and he doesn't take Vrtra down in the 1v2 with Estinien supporting. Sagat can't do all that much here against superior melee ability, (no one's even mentioned Vivi using his sword arts with Gael which I thought would be a pretty sick combo tbh.) So after Kirby times out and Sagat dies the fight continues into the tunnels.

The mines probably take somebody out before they're discovered (pick one of Haurchefant or Gael) but after that Vivi can clear them out with his fire attacks as long as the group proceeds carefully. K.Rool can still snipe them (I think Vivi dies to this, or Haurche if he still lives does) and then you've got K.Rool sniping with Kazooie supporting him vs Estinien and Gael. The random bear may or may not factor into anything, I kind of think it doesn't? But Banjo is another matter. Because while K.Rool can probably (with Garrus' firepower) kill one of Esty/Gael and then use his extra life sneak attack to kill the other, he then has to contend with Vrtra, who I think is too large to fit into the tunnels. And K.Rool will have to expose himself to being roasted by the dragon to get a shot off, and when he does, Vrtra is gonna cook him. This means Banjo is the team's ONLY hope to kill the big angry dragon.

The thing is, Banjo is in fact a king of platforming, and getting to a hard to reach place while under fire to snag a collectable is his bread and butter. Plus he knows Grunty's Lair intimately, and would be able to get around it better than anyone. So it's CLOSE, (real close) but I gotta go with THE BEARS.

My apologies. I tried a shorter version and then organizing things by section. It's hard when you have a full team at once to hype, instead of mercs where you're usually like "okay you know what these guys can do by Week 20 so here's what my new guy, who is also from FFXIV, can do".

I don't expect to talk about Mass Effect, K. Rool's durability, the entire late-game lore of Kirby and the Forgotten Land, and what Gruntilda's Lair looks like all in one ever again. And THEN a strategy.

Eh, tough call. I do think a 3v3 woulda been more accessible, but we also wanted to do a midgame showcase to be more indicative of game flow. Double edged sword, y'know?

I got people to care about King K Rool in a dumb fantasy fight though, so I'm happy.

If people don't know Final Fantasy 9, Kirby, Donkey Kong, Banjo-Kazooie, Dark Souls and Street Fighter, they live under a rock, respectfully

FF XIV is the only game representing characters here that isn't giga massive. I genuinely do not think it is possible to get a match with a higher concentration of known quantities that didn't feature entirely old mercs.
