We cannot fill a narcotic without a script. That goes back to the federal government. We will automatically fill a narcotic for a generic unless the prescriber marks the script Dispense as Written. That too goes back to the federal government.

That is why these substances are called controlled substances. If your patient needs the medication, the prescriber needs to write a prescription. If your patient needs the medication a certain way, the prescriber needs to write it to specification. Politely bypassing the necessary steps is what can cost people like me their license, their job, or even their privilege to see life beyond the bars of a cell door.
