Alt Quen is pretty good if you want to regen health while in battle, but there's so many health regen food and potions that it kind of loses its value towards mid game. I haven't found my free respec potion yet.

i could just google it for its item_ID

and then console it in but that seems excessive.

I did all of them. I just ignored the obvious question marks at the sea that lead to trash treasure

Actually I lied. I did get get burnt out but not from quests because I did EVERY one of those. My ships kept sinking too.

For a challenge. It would be literally impossible to beat the final DLC boss of either of the DLC at low level though.

I just saw the toggle for it, and I don't know whether I want to turn it on. I'm level 20, and I can take a group of level 35s at Blood and Broken Bones difficulty.

You can do that but it's actually for whenever you progress back to Velen or wherever and fight <lvl 5 drowners and wolves so they're reset to your current level.

Oh I misinterpreted then -- I thought the guide was like "go get this sweet DLC armor and then go do the main story since you'll be too OP" or something

I leveled up enough to use the first set of the new dlc armor. Looks... okay, I guess

I have successfully made archers shoot their buddies in the back of the head 9 times now and it's fucking funny every time

i heard the toxic build is pretty powerful (whichever that gives higher attack when have a certain toxic level).

that would be Euphoria. I'm doing a modified version of it that's been working well. According to build sites, there are better ones now because of re-works for the next gen update, but I haven't downloaded that as I am on PC and the current next gen update for PC is apparently full of bugs, so I'm waiting on it.

His standard Wolf gear is iconically cool but I remember being so letdown when I crafted his Griffin set tho. I mean wtf am I Bird Witcher now with those gloves >______>

Yeah they all looked pretty bad. I just went with the cat gear since it was the best for the build I had.

This isn't Witcher gear but the post made me laugh. It's not even that this looks bad it just looks wrong on Geralt. Some Witcher sets look cool but are ruined (for me) because Geralt's beard clips through the collar. I use the starting chest piece for a long way through the game while mixing in pieces from other sets, then eventually go Ursine despite the beard clipping. Once you can equip the Grandmaster stuff and get the armor dyes from Blood & Wine you can make something pretty decent.

I always shave Geralt as soon as the beard grows

where is Condyle... i need to do a quest there... and should i start hunting places of power?

Never dye a cat. They will fight you violently.

I don't think this ever applies to contracts but there are a handful of secondary quests that, once activated by proximity, will fail if you wander too far away. Pretty sure they're all insignificant but just a heads up that it can happen.

Dodge roll in behind them, hit them two or three times, then dodge roll away. It doesn't work on trolls or giant centipedes.

when you say dodge roll, do you mean A or B on the controller?

EDIT: and on the quests thing, i am following a quest guide to keep from missing or progressing certain ones too far

He means rolling to dodge attacks. I never did that because it's easier to actually use the dodge button. Only reason I even beat the game is because I didn't have to roll only like in Witcher 2 which I couldn't finish.

Wait.. the remake is free if you owned the last gen version??

i have defeated the tower, broken a curse, and successfully gotten a friend to go to witcher castle

EDIT: I have leveled enough to use the second set of the Next-gen armour, and by gawd do i hate how it looks. should probably do this Griffin school quest...

I played it on PC, so I don't know what buttons do what on a controller. On a keyboard, at least, it's the spacebar which is also the button for jump outside of combat.

I can't play rpgs with a keyboard.

Had to reload a save because I accidentally started a witcher contract again by accident. Kinda wish that contract creaturesdidn't span in until you started their quest at the board.

I found it hard to play that game without looking up the optimal route in every quest. It was fun but tiring.

yeah, i have a quest order guide up on the other monitor.

i am having fun with it though, and this time i'm actually using oils and signs and shit instead of just dodge-light attacking everything.

EDIT: my main complaint is that they have all these optional markers on the map but you have a good chance of triggering something by mistake by wandering too close to an area

if you let Letho live at the end of W2, you can do a quest in W3 and if you pick the right options, you can recruit him for kaer morhen

but my game bugged and even though i did the things, i never got the quest and never got the friend

It happens in 2 too if you simulate. You get attacked by a knight from the Order in 1.

Yeah that's the only way the knight doesn't attack you.

The Gourmet perk is basically a "never die again" perk, so take it if you want the game to become absolutely piss easy

EDIT: that's the one that makes food/drink last for 20 IRL minutes, right?

Yep. Basically turns on permanent health regen, so long as you eat or drink and single one of the plentiful foodstuffs you loot from basically every enemy once every 20 minutes
