Morgan was married to Susanne Garmatz, a German woman, with whom he had two sons. He later began a relationship with Fiona Clarke, with whom he had another son.

Although he had been raised as a Catholic and had briefly considered becoming a priest during childhood, Morgan became an atheist in his later life, and he was critical of the Catholic Church.

Despite Morgan's atheism, a Catholic requiem mass was offered for him at St Therese's Church in the South Dublin suburb of Mount Merrion. The mass was attended by Irish President Mary McAleese, her predecessor Mary Robinson, and many of the Irish political and religious leaders who had been the targets of his satire in Scrap Saturday. His body was cremated at Glasnevin Cemetery, and his ashes were buried in the family plot at Deans Grange Cemetery.

Reminds me of when JJ Abrams asked George Takei if they could make Sulu gay in the new Star Trek movies in support of LGBT rights and Takei said they shouldn't because while George Takei is gay, Sulu is married with children....

Then they did it anyway against his wishes.

I think George Takei is afraid of Sulu being emasculated. His Sulu at least had relationships on screen, even if they were with women. Denying that would push Sulu further into the background.

Hollywood has a habit of emasculating Asian men. I think the last big name male Asian sex symbol was silent film star Sessue Ayakawa, who was a direct box office rival to Rudolph Valentino. Europe and the United States were going through a bit of Asiaphilia at the time, so Asian actors benefited from that to a degree, albeit for the wrong reasons. His career was destroyed by the Hayes Code, which prohibited interracial relationships on screen. Just about all his on screen romances had been with white women.

Back to the topic, that is really disgusting. These types of stunts I hear about usually involve extremist Mormons and Evangelicals. I think the only reason they felt fine with doing this is because he became an atheist. If he had converted to Judaism, the Catholic Church would have back away from it for fear of incurring the wrath of Jewish groups.

It's not, but Takei knows that this is how Hollywood thinks. Hollywood hasn't reached a point where they can separate a man being gay from being emasculated.

I hate to add fuel to this particular fire, but during the Nazi regime, people who died after wishing for no party symbolism at their funeral had their wishes ignored entirely. Rommel comes to mind in particular.

If its one thing the Catholic Church is known for is not caring about the concept of consent.
