Why not do some sort of basic training into something else and increase ur salary.

Was just thinking, medical assistants have like <1 yr training and make like $20/hr in Cali. Their jobs are super chill, regular hours, no overtime, no weekends, no holidays, free food at the clinic all the time....

i make above minimum wage but don't work full time.

i don't take higher training or go to school because i'm mentally unwell and it prevents me from learning properly.

Because of the vicious cycle if debt? You go into a lot of programs and you have to pay for them so you get a minimum wage job but then you still pay rent and all sorts of other shit for something you might never get in to.

anti work told me that i should work a min wage job for 18 hours a week and just keep bitching about how my life sucks.

I make slightly above minimum wage at my "main" job, but we voted to unionize in september and we're just waiting on some more bureaucratic bs to go through before we go into negotiations

You can easily work as an MA and work 40 hours a week, and work a part time job somewhere else for 20 hours a week. That's only 60 hours a week. You can make 4.2k a month if you make $20 at ur full time job and $15 at the part time. You can pay $2000 in rent and bills, $500 on food, save $500 a month, and spend $500 a month on student loans.

Depends on the context. Companies are not entitled to 60 hours of work a week

If opportunities or education were more affordable like they were prior to Reagan as governor. How about every goods, products or cost of living not being so expensive? Then working 60 hours per week wouldn't be needed and honestly, just working that much is ridiculous.

I can see both sides of this one.

There are certainly different levels of privilege and it is wrong to assume that everybody can claw themselves out of poverty by working hard and making good decisions.

There are also people who are in poverty because they make poor decisions or do not work hard.

Generalising about a group as enormous as everybody on minimum wage is silly though.

Warehouse work has been my saving grace. In one I was making $22.50 an hour in a LCOL city and in another I was making $20 in my HCOL city. Unfortunately, the billionaire owners thought I was a slow worker and undeserving of their grace and I got fired from both very fast.

They so jack shit medical stuff. Take vitals and do busy work like calling patients, asking basic questions. It's really not as bad as it sounds.

Being a nurse is alot harder but that's also a great field that can pay 90+ dollars an hour in California and you don't even need a bachelor's.

I'd rather have a life with 40 hours than 60 and lose it.

I'm back in school trying to get a bachelor's in animation. Currently at a design company. Before that, I was a receiver at a restaurant, working for the city, and Walmart. I kind of just used my network to continuously get paid more.
