I'm at the very start so I don't have any items to help so I'm just sitting here waiting for the Darkness to go away. feels like it takes 5 minutes.

I feel this one is more challenging than I/II already just due to enemies not flinching when hit if they're higher level than you (?). Previous games skeletons can certainly start out one shotting you, but if you timed your approach well with an attack, their own attack would be interrupted and you can take them down pretty easily. Worked for basically anything, but not anymore. In this one, skeletons ripped me apart and when I tried my usual crap on them, they weren't phased at all lol. Had to actually put effort into DODGING of all things. Then I gained a level and some strength while in the Barracks and THEN they start flinching when hit (but then I ran into a new skeleton with a broadsword who promptly told me to go fuck myself). I dig the change.

Flame rod is the best weapon for 3/4 of the game once you get it. It's worth selling some stuff you're not using so you can buy it, and you can get it very early. There's a Capricorn sword you can get in the barracks if you got enough silvera's keys to reach it (you need 5), and it sells for a boatload of gold, but it weighs too much to be useful, so that's a top candidate to sell along with some dragon crystals so you can buy that flame rod.

I think I know the area you're talking about with the silvera key, I only have 3 at the moment. And that was with taking the time to go back and recollect the other 2 in the Battlefield once I opened the shortcut.

Is there not a vendor I'll stumble on soon that'll sell some important things? In II at least all my gold went toward the guy selling expensive keys (the silver and gold). Didn't buy any equipment, just opted to find all of it instead.
