Would they get turned into a zombie/host for a fungus?

I hear the reason that we're not controlled like insects are is because our white blood cells or whoever are able to fight off the invasive species. But... what if a person didn't have that?

No, despite some members of Congress indicating otherwise, insect and human brains are very different.

In the show they say the fungus couldn't affect humans because of our body temperature. We were too hot for it. But then it mutated to adapt to our heat

I have no idea if it's at all possible for Last of Us to ever really happen but I do think about it sometimes.

I've been fascinated by cordyceps for years, but I never really thought about how it could mutate. I watched the first episode of the Last of Us show. I picked on the reference, and yeah it could happen... but I think it spread more slowly.

ants have much more simple brains and neural networks compared to mammals, easier to control/influence

Humans aren't really that much better though if you really think about it. I mean look at that thing I watched about mushrooms... and... I can't really explain that but like, you'll know what I mean, on multiple levels.

The science in the show is fun but it's entirely implausible. Cordyceps can't even infect other species of ants outside of their region.

Nah, the bacterial vampires would come out of the shadows to defeat the fungi
