Literally says in his lawsuits that he used original, unmodified hardware, but the hardware in the image is clearly modified.

Youtube videos can be interesting, and Karl's usually are, but this is layman's analysis, not legal precedent, and people shouldn't get super excited. Average people also shouldn't be invested in whether or not a piece of shit gets his lawsuit dismissed.

A litigious troll like Mitchell is still gonna be suing people and it will be up to his victims to prove whatever the image is confirms that Mitchell is categorically lying that any of his runs were on original & unmodified hardware, not to mention they'll have to win on preponderance the reasonable definition of modified hardware, ie is the modification necessary just a joystick swap or computer components? etc. Ultimately it's not about winning every case for Mitchell, it's about how his litigious nature makes other people scared to talk about him and his lies, ultimately preserving his charade. Even if someone expects they have a good defense against Mitchell's suits, the costs of legal work and the potential to lose may be prohibitive enough for them to stay quiet, which is the point of it all.

A custom joystick proves the hardware is modified, it isn't even in question. The joystick in question alters the way the game is played SIGNIFICANTLY.

If they can prove he cheated then they'd win, it wouldn't be too hard to prove really.

Twin Galaxies was basically a group of friends who formed within a tight-knit circle whose only outside promotion were magazines who reprinted the scores. The scores were never disputed for the longest time because they were the only authority for years.

He is still going to come out on top. Bad people win most of the time. We get lucky if they don't

Billy's argument is the video tape evidence is exhibition created for King of Kong and wasn't the score he submitted and that nobody has the original tapes anymore. Of course there's no witnesses so I just thought now's a good time to let everyone know that I got 2 million a year before Billy got 1 million.

Considering he'd be saying the people who provided the picture(the place where the event was held) are involved in this and helped doctor photos for him...yeah, I don't think he wants to go down that rabbit hole. I'm sure that's another whole can of worms.

8 way joystick if it's real is legitimately cheating. Not just "playing on emulator" cheating but like actual cheating. Regardless there's no evidence that is an actual 8-way joystick and not just a repair of a broken 4-way so that's going to be his angle of attack next. Also I just scored 3 million on original hardware game is ez.

Donkey Kong is different. Mario can only ever move in one direction left-right or up-down for ladders. Mario can jump over the ladder base if need be.

Ive not watched the video but Id also like to point out that a lot of 8-way sticks are sold with little plastic pieces that fit on the bottom underside of the stick to turn them into 4-ways.

You'd have to be pretty anal to consider a superficial repair job as a modification. The dudes a cheating piece of shit but I honestly don't think that joystick is the smoking gun that video is saying it is. It's obviously not the original but that doesn't mean it's an 8-way.

You're better off arguing the more rational pov of "the only evidence he got that score is that he said he did" which is horse shit. No records agency on the fucking planet would accept that as evidence. It was only accepted by twin galaxies at first because there was no authority on video game records at the time and no standards of proof had been established.

Mitchell's DK records would not even pass the scrutiny of speedrunners.
