I want to see gameplay but the art direction they went with is pretty sick. I always have an appetite for cosmic horror.

Hope it plays better than the first one, and I can create a character

First one was so easy I only died to the cheap gimmick boss with an instant kill attack that you can only figure out how to avoid by luck or finding a hidden scroll

Is this a sequel to Lords of the Fallen from last gen?

This is a different company than the original one, isn't it? I felt Deck 13 had a massive jump from Lords of the Fallen to The Surge, to The Surge 2. If they were working on this, I would hope it was a massive improvement. But I am kind of hesitant if this new one is the first soulslike game from this company. Personally, the combat system feeling smooth but with weight behind the attacks is a key fun factor in these types of games.

Lords of the Fallen was never that bad, just kind of underwhelming and on the easy side.

I picked it up for like 5 bucks, couldn't really get into it.

These Eurojank titles always look great in screenshots but then when you play them they just feel a bit off.
