never really understood the M. Night hate. Like maybe you dont like his movies, but at least he's the one guy thats constantly trying to do something unique these days. The whole 'im sick of him doing a twist in his movies' is such a strange take

I'd give the story a 7, and the actors' performances a 9.

the kid gets shot in an altercation but it doesn't count because she wasn't a willing sacrifice. at the end of the book the couple drives back to town or whatever to take of the end of the world.

Good first 2/3 and fell flat by the end. The twist this time being there was no twist was a bit meh. Also felt like they toned down the gore to keep the lower age rating which I think was a downer on it as well. Batista was great though. Hoping he'll get some more high profile roles off the back of this. Well deserved.
