Finished my journey by capturing Arceus, and officially completing the Pokedex. Was surprised I first tried it as people were hyping that fight up.

Path of Solitude quests were annoying, but braved through those and completed all sidequests and main quests.

Legends Arceus (what I'm calling Legends Plate Arceus) is a really cool form, yet I feel it's not quite broken to the point where I think Arceus should be a pokemon added to Scarlet/Violet with that plate. Now that every Pokemon is an Arceus in Scarlet/Violet with Tera types, it needed some sort of item to make it stand out and this is it. Still, you need Judgement (which only has a limited amount of pp) so it'd be easy to stall out, and Pokemon that can switch in and out smoothly would make for good counters against that item.

It was refreshing to play a Pokemon game and have fun catching the Pokemon. I've never bothered with completing the pokedex before this game, so this game definitely did catching really well. I even did the research level 10 tasks so I got the shiny charm for the first time in a Pokemon game. I also liked the introduction of alphas, as Sword and Shield made way too many pokemon feel smaller than they should be, and the alphas were able to correct that to an extent.

My only question is what in tarnation did Volo and Giratina think they were going to accomplish when they actually got to Arceus? lmao. Arceus probably would have swatted them away like flies as soon as Volo finished his monologue about making a better universe.

Honestly a better-made, more modernized game than Scarlet/Violet.

I know it was probably too late for ScVi to take any lessons from PLA, since both games were developed in tandem, but I'm hoping that Gen 10 takes some much-needed lessons from PLA.

I had no interest in the diamond/pearl remakes as they massacred my favorite gen, but Legends: Arceus was like the real love letter to gen 4 fans anyways. I think gen 4 fans actually got the good end of the deal as we got an entirely new game from the ground-up. I might even pick up the remakes now as I heard you get a certain reward for catching every Pokemon in Legends: Arceus. I had Diamond (and Platinum, which I put more hours into tbh) as a kid, so I'd get Shining Pearl just to complete the circle.

Don't know if I'd get Scarlet/Violet. Heard they are the most fun a traditional Pokemon has been in a long time, but I also don't know if I care about traditional Pokemon too much right now, either. Skipped Sword/Shield and Ultra Sun/Ultra Moon, so it's been a bit since I played through one. I'd only get the BDSP remakes since I did really like gen 4. Catching pokemon was just so smooth in Arceus that it will feel like a massive downgrade in the traditional games.

Yeah, haven't played Scarlet/Violet, but there are a few changes between the two that seem strangely backwards. I do think, for a competitive format, traditional battling is better, though.

How long did the game last?
It looks cool but I don't trust it to last.
@ViewtifulJoe

I mean, depends how much you want to do. Just beating the game won't take too long, but completing the pokedex and beating all the quests will be a much-longer process.

Of course, I'd also argue you haven't actually beaten the game until you do catch all pokemon and beat every main quest considering that's the first thing you're told to do (and the game tells you to do that multiple times afterwards as well). Credits ending isn't even an appropriate story-ending (sure it wraps up the main story-issue presented) as there's an additional part after that which truly feels like the final fight that finishes up the story of the game.

So, yeah, it took me 100 hours to do everything I wanted to do (complete the pokedex (catching all pokemon and getting to research level 10 for each pokemon), complete all main/sidequests, and unlocking all item slots (which will be a money grind)).

I would say, from a game perspective, just catching all pokemon (so not even getting them to level 10 research) and doing every main quest will be a good-enough stopping point to feel like you got your money's worth. I'm seeing estimates anywhere from 60-80 hours for the average player.
