Everyone being horrified -- you haven't read many bioethical articles, have you?
Not a single one, and thank you for letting me know to avoid bioethics people in the future.

It kinda falls into the same kinda pool as necrophilia, where there's nothing inherently wrong with it
Now this is a take

Yeah, it sounds like just people trying to justify shitty opinions.

I guess bioethicists are like the Ayn Rand diehards of biology.

I mean assuming this statement from Wikipedia is accurate, then I don't see any ethical issues with it... It kinda falls into the same kinda pool as necrophilia, where there's nothing inherently wrong with it, because in both cases the people are effectively inanimate objects at that point. It's just that it's considered societally unacceptable due to the huge "icky factor" that they used to be alive.

Too many of them just argue for infanticide, literally arguments for killing babies, here's a couple:

https://jme.bmj.com/content/39/5/261 -- After-birth abortion: why should the baby live?

https://link.springer.com/article/10.1007/s11017-017-9419-7 -- If Abortion, then Infanticide
The first one says that a newborn and a fetus are the moral equivalent of each other

If consent is given, I guess I wouldn't care on the part about it potentially happening, but a world where hospitals are incentivized to keep bodies alive long term to farm humans for money is the unsettling part. Our for-profit healthcare system is the issue in this situation.
