I sometimes enjoy Bills mockery of the mainstream/progressive left, but Im always skeptical of arguments that boil down to yeah but human nature because we have a limited scientific understanding of it.

Well, he characterizes it as a battle against human nature, but that's not really the goal, it's more like damage control in spite of human nature. It's a lofty goal that attracts certain people who tend to skip over the details and jump straight to conclusions.

I think for Maher this whole "radical leftists are stupid" thing is personal, because deep down he feels or sees there's similarities between their approach and his approach. They act like a mirror and he doesn't like what he sees.

I suspect this because he's gone on his own rebellions against certain groups of people that he disagrees with on a very fundamental level.

Really glossed over the content of that false flag book there, Bill.

Who said anything about liberals? Im calling American progressivism mainstream, which it is. Hardly a majority, but its no longer a fringe position these days (which I think is largely for the better).

Nothing makes me checkout faster than old people complaining about woke shit...

I actually just skipped around sections of the video, but I always find the notion that the same person that will espouse the incredible importance and power of the culture of free speech, will also in the same breath day make fun of people for..being impacted by speech.

I actually do think a strong culture of free speech is important, which is why I think it's important to listen to others when they say certain speech and ideas are impactful or hurtful
