Lake Powell is an abomination that never should have been impounded in the first place.

It's gotten so bad that they have a paywall to even learn about it. Imagine the hoops you have to jump through to get water from them.

Maybe we should stop trying to make deserts not deserts. That takes a lot of water.

Latest reminder that Fallout New Vegas' Lake Mead set in the apocalyptic future is doing just great.
Situated near some territorial disputes and containing a few Mirelurks sure, but it's drastically outperforming ours.

Maybe we should stop trying to make deserts not deserts. That takes a lot of water.

Also to save water, ban golf courses and not require grass lawns.

Stop growing water intensive crops in a manner that results in most of that water evaporating. Or just stop growing water intensive crops in a location that is a desert. (Like, you know, alfalfa.)

Spray irrigation is extremely wasteful of water. Drip irrigation, especially when done at night and not during the daytime, is much less water intensive.

Really all that needs to be said. Yes it will disrupt livelihoods. Yes it will make things more expensive. But it is fundamentally damaging to the world.

Having worked with drip irrigation, it's really easy to see why farms use spray or center pivots over it. Drip irrigation sucks ass to deal with.
