He does and so does Batman. Don't know why people have issues with trunks and call them corny while a blue suit with a red cape and a bat themed suit with a cape and ears are totally fine. Look at all the other "corny" stuff in these comic books. Why take issue with the trunks of all things? "The killer clown, plant lady, the weird toy guy, and the little old guy from another dimension are fine, but those trunks gotta go!"

I think it comes from the same kind of logic that resulted in the Singer X-Men movies giving us the most visually bland X-Men costumes probably ever created.

I don't get what's with the obsession with "realism" in comic book movies. Maybe it's a carryover from the popularity of The Dark Knight films

I know the one on the right is his classic look. But I really prefer the newer, slightly darker Supes.

I think Superman in particular should always look like his corny design no matter what.

The muted colors are worse then the lack of trunks.

But more seriously, I think the Superman Reborn suit is the perfect compromise. It really just needs *something* to break up all that blue.

scarlet witch

the flash

and thats just mainly red, and doesnt count the spin off heroes if thats what you want to call them. superboy instead of Superman etc

Yeah, but Henry Cavill would look good in Borat swimwear, so its not really a good measure.

I've never cared much for the briefs, even as a kid I thought they were too reminiscent of what pro wrestlers wear and I've always found pro wrestling corny so the association didn't help much

That's because back in the day those were the most consistent inks to print with while still looking heroic. It's also why supervillains have purple, green, and orange.

When they decided to change Hulk to green and purple, it was to symbolize his anti-hero status by giving him villain colors. And him being changed from grey was precisely because the printing press couldn't keep his shade of grey consistent from page to page.

Huh, TIL. Never knew Hulk to be anything but green.

The trunks somehow draw less attention to his package, which I mostly appreciate.

Comic book styles looks cheesy irl, so they adapt costumes and colors so the movie can be taken seriously. That's part of why all the old live action adaptations are so stupid looking, aside from being low budget.
