There's a lot of factors, I think a big one is people are impulsive and short sighted

i'll say something controversial here - it's because women can put up with a lot of shit in their lives for a long time until one day they snap and just burn it all down.

their tolerance is much much lower

There is less stigma to divorce & let's face it, love fades, so it gets hard to maintain a marriage after awhile, so especially after the kids are gone the marriage goes to pot. It always seemed that the most successful marriages I witnessed are between two people that have thier own lives outside of thier spouse. So, to answer a clich with a clich, while love may fade, absence makes the heart grow fonder.

Divorce can be emotional, or it can be simply practical, although things obviously lean towards the former. people figure out things and learn over time. people change over time. people's perceptions change over time.

I don't like the thought of divorce except when absolutely necessary. You gotta be getting some changed up person or something.
Marriage is about spending your life with someone and committing to them. Love is beautiful and takes work and patience. Then again, i love and trust my partner.

Living with a person every day of your life is a far different experience from seeing them in a social setting mostly on a regular basis.

The average person today is deeply self centered and opportunistic. The thought of great self sacrifice for the sake of a union, let alone another person is almost alien to them. It's the result of creating a society where everything and everyone is viewed as disposable the moment they become inconvenient.

There are many reasons:

People rush into relationships and remain in them even if it's not working because the fear of being alone is too great.

Infidelity has been romanticized by Hollywood and entertainment media as a whole.

Social media has indoctrinated individuals with radical viewpoints that make compatibility with others difficult

People have grown more vain and entitled and are always looking out for "the new model".

A general decline in mental health makes it more difficult to resolve disputes and other petty quarrels. People will seek advice on social media rather than having face-to-face discussions with their partners.

And so forth and so on.

I'm not sure how you got abusive from inconvenient. I was mainly expressing that when hard times come, or you hit a rough patch in a relationship, people tend to just flake rather than put in the effort it takes to work through it.

I think its just because getting a divorce is a lot easier than it used to be.

Because females can act the victim when they want to be even though they are part of the cause of marriage infidelity. They might divorce just to get money.

Nope that's definitely not it

I think some of it is because people are often too quick to jump into marriage. Societal and familial pressures push the idea of marriage and often the people entering it dont fully know their partner or even themselves. Divorce isnt necessarily a bad thing either. Leaving a toxic or unhealthy relationship is the right thing to do for everyone involved. I think if people dated longer before marriage we would see a lower divorce rate.

But people just want to argue about something that could be true, instead of what's true.

Except they don't. The stats were linked in post #2 and show exactly the opposite of what you're suggesting: Divorces are relatively rare (~1.5% of marriages), the rate is declining overall, and the proportion of people getting divorces later in life (which doesn't necessarily mean after longer relationships, but there's a pretty strong correlation between age and marriage length) is increasing. If anything, people are now more likely to put in the effort to work through rough patches, instead of divorcing at the first sign of trouble.
