It feels like "you have to be hyper-vigilant about terminally online trans rights discourse 24/7/365" people got a little too unhinged about a stupid harry potter game and everyone's just trolling back now. Not that I want CE to go back to being full of neckbeard lolbertarians but yknow, something had to give.

Like seriously imagine going up to someone in the street and telling them "Don't buy Hogwarts Legacy because JK Rowling is a transphobic TERF". They'd be confused as fuck lol

Unless you mean on CE then yes I definitely see this game being the next "The Last Jedi" in terms of getting effortless 500 post topics on a monthly basis <_<

If this game is a huge hit, I could see this being the start of a Harry Potter Expanded Universe as big as Star Wars

If a HP expanded universe hasn't happened by now I doubt it ever will, at least while Rowling's alive. Took a whole decade after Hallows for even the Cursed Child/Fantastic Beasts to come out. Everything in-between was just Rowling sharing notes on a glorified blog.

I fully expect this game to make gangbusters and spawn sequels, but if Harry Potter/Wizarding World gets to even half of say, the MCU's proliferation before Rowling dies, I'll uh...idk I'll do a silly jig

Pretty sure that's the plan. WB has wanted to do a 2 part Cursed Child movie since like the mid-2010s. Radcliffe and the others feel like it's way too early for that, but they've made it sound like they will eventually be down. So WB has probably been waiting on that.

So they went with the Fantastic Beasts movies, which were just an entirely different type of story and atmosphere, so it wasn't really the same thing. So now there's an HBO Max series coming and possibly even plans to reboot the movies or expand elsewhere. The success with this game probably means even more stuff.
