Allen once made a point about how someone's "main" was the carrot they could always dangle in terms of "why isn't this user outright banned??" -- generally speaking, it was more effective to just do purgs for problem offenders, as they would be calmer on their alts or risk losing multiple accounts at the same time (and potentially not being able to post if a new alt isn't at 3 karma yet).

Well, now that she's gone, get ready for the alts to come out in full force.
