If you're in the US and not terrible at managing your spending, they're absolutely on point. At least for the basic idea in the topic title, not watching the video now.

It gonna watch it either, but theyre not wrong.

Accumulating rewards and points is one big benefit. Another is better protection against your cash when it comes to fraudulent charges.

I do exactly that. It keeps track of all your spending in 1 place, if it gets skimmed or stolen it's easy to refute the fraud and get a replacement, and it builds your credit. As long as you pay it all off every month so you don't pay interest, it's the best way to manage money.

I see nothing wrong with using a credit card over a debit card.

Unless youre irresponsible with money. But even then a credit card makes more sense

Bill Burr says if someone gets your debit card info and cleans you out that is your money and basically you are screwed. If they take your credit card info that is their (the credit card company) money.

It's not that big of a deal honestly but yeah you should use a credit card to buy stuff in general. You get charged for it anyway

The way credit rewards are structured with businesses basically mean you're paying for someone else's rewards if you use cash or debit. So they're right. You're leaving money on the table.

Easier to reverse fraud charges on a credit card so they're right. I only use the debit to get cash from ATMs.

That doesn't make him super rich, even for a famous comedian he's no where near guys like Chris Rock or Seinfeld, likely not even as Louis CK. He didn't even start getting hyper popular until much later in life.

The only "good" reason I've ever heard for using a debit card over a credit card is "I can't control my spending" but the only thing debit card helps with there is that you can't literally spend over what you have.

Also generalization but you should just grow up if you're in that situation.

Yes they are right because they often have good theft protection so stuff like ordering online and fraud protection are better than losing your money directly. Cards also often have cash back or other incentives which, if you are wise in paying it off immediately, you can really benefit and end up saving money off stuff like groceries or gas.

They are right, if you can properly manage your spending then they are objectively better.

You can get rewards, great perks, and the fraud protection is significantly better. Fraudulent spending on a debit card removes actual money from your account, with a CC your money is never touched.

All you gotta do is pay off the statement balance every month and enjoy the benefits.

I've done this since the age of 25. People don't seem to understand that you get paid to do this.

You use nothing but your credit card for every single purchase as if it is your debit, and then you payoff the balance every 2 weeks. Doing this will ensure you never get any interest charges. I suppose there are SOME people who for whatever reason cannot financially contain themselves and cannot do this, but to the rest of the 2/3rds of people, they need to start doing this asap.

And then you reap the rewards of whatever card you use. Currently with the Costco visa, you get 2 cashback rewards a year, I'm getting my feb reward soon and it is $1150.
