His first visit with the owl, the owl mentions the monsters have started (keyword) acting crazy since his arrival. If Link awakens the Wind Fish, he eradicates the entire island and everything and everyone in it.

I mean he's obviously not trying to be the villain, but he's the antagonist that starts the unbalance in the world of the island.

The hero is the real monster.

No, he is not.

Not really. His adventure was basically the equivilent of a dreamed version of a Holodeck. He's gotta get out, and the figments only existed because he entered that state in the first place.

But it is meant to be a very melancholy and somber ending.

I got the impression that the people are stuck on the island and waking the fish released them. Except for Marin... We don't talk about Marin...

Yes I have spoken about my dismay about that before. He doesn't even try another way. He just kills everyone. He trusted this assholr that left him to die at see. But link kids all those people.

Edit the bosses are begging link not to kill there world. But he does it with a smile. The people in the village have hopes and dreams and is honestly nicer and care more about him then zelda

So the wind fish should be forced to sleep forever so that the dream inhabitants won't disappear? Even though they only exist due to the wind fish dreaming them? That's pretty messed up.

The nightmares were their own thing. We don't know if their actions increased because they sensed Link, or if the timing of his arrival was pure koincidence, but either way, their plan was to fuck shit up and take over the island from the beginning.

'Kourse, killing all the nightmares and waking the windfish are not the same, so technically, he kould have been absolutely selfless and killed all the nightmares without waking the windfish, but as a dude just tryna get back to his own world with it's own problems he's out to fix, I'd kall him neutral at worst.

Exactly. There's never any mention of the people being in danger, or some malevolent force making life hell for everybody.

Presumably, the Wind Fish would eventually just die if it was forced to keep on sleeping, and if it dies then everything in the dream goes poof anyway.

How dare he choose to go back to his real life rather than stay in a dream world with people who don't actually exist.

Yeah, the Link thing is more complicated but I was under the impression Mario was just visting a world of dreams by dreaming himself into it, and helping the people who lived there by defeating an evil king, then he would wake up and the dream world would still exist to be dreamed back into any time, except without a tyrant. It wasn't Mario's dream, it was some kind of ongoing dream kingdom he just got to enter for a while.

Okay then so we confirmed Link did absolutely nothing wrong since Wart shows up in both and he seems to be perfectly fine.

You're just starting to make me wonder if Link also killed Subcon.

I remember when I used to not over think everything, I was just like cool Zelda is on the Gameboy and there are goombas in it for some reason. Also when I say the internet, I am not being critical to anyone here unless I straight up say, hey you! Or something. It is more what the internet became because of social media, but I digress. I over think way too much these days. Things were simpler.

I read some of this even the spoilers but heh Link should visit Subcon someday. 5 cherries gets him a heart piece ;P

Nah. In final fantasy tactics advance the whole world was forcibly transformed into monsters or other shit without their consent. There's some parallels here but Marche was overall still in the right. FFTA wasn't just not real it was also morally abhorrent to persist in it just because you don't want to be in a wheelchair anymore.

Is that so? I never heard that one. That doesn't explain how all the Mario enemies like Shyguys and Pokeys and Goomba got there. Ones from both Subcon and the Mushroom Kingdom.

Koholint is stable before Link, but it also prevents the Wind Fish from living his fishy life.
The nightmares want the Wind Fish to keep sleeping, but the residents don't seem to mind.
The dream stops existing when the Wind Fish wakes up, but he still has all the memories of the dream. It's possible there's some continuity.
Marin gets turned into a sea gull. She always wanted to leave the island and by waking up the Wind Fish her dream comes true.
