I wont shit on everything disney plus. Wandavision was special. Andor was great. I quite enjoyed falcon winter soldier, mando 2.

Then some of the marvel shows were solid

That said I hear about the budget but they are short, sometimes cheap looking (obi wan). Most either feel they were movies stretched out to 6 episodes or shows that needes more time. 6 episodes and 30-45 minutes is such a nonsense runtime.

Hbo is operating in the same mainstream nerdspace, last year they killed with house of the dragon, this year with the last of us. I understand those shows are near 1 on 1 adaptations but even just looking at them, they look better, and bigger.

I want to say some of it is disney still being new to big budget tv but I feel like marvel tv was better year 1 than 2

HBO is a vastly superior production company compared to the Disney+ TV show division, that much is abundantly clear. Disney+ shows are somewhere between HBO and Netflix--not as cheap-looking as Netflix tends to be, but nowhere near the consistent quality of HBO originals.

HBO is basically the gold standard of original series, and they have been for decades. Nobody tops their best efforts.

Yeah, HBO just straight up gives more budget to their original TV shows. Funny considering how much money Disney has, but yeah.

Even the star war shows look so damn cheap.

Ms marvel looked good up until any sort of power up sequence. Just the visuals of thr day to day stuff was good

She hulk i sort of give a bit of a break. On tv it must be tough to do a full cg human typr caharcter in realistic settings

I'm just liking the middle ground between TV and movies these days: tell a ~10 episode story with movie-quality production and meaningful character depth.

All of the marvel disney plus shows are dope to someone. Problem is none of them are dope to everyone

Disney+ isn't making money so it's probably going to get even worse.

I don't even get excited for these shows anymore. It's just Marvel and Star Wars. There's only so much they can do with this same format. You can't even really get invested the same way as a lot of television shows because there's years between seasons and the seasons aren't long to begin with.

I just finished National Treasure: Edge of History. Wasn't very good. I just want National Treasure 3 already.

Andor gave me new hope for star wars. So its not all bad.

Have you seen decades of Disney channel productions?

dont know why youd expect them to suddenly step it up now that theyve rebranded it as a streaming service

I actually think it's funny that people are criticizing the disney plus budget because if anyone watched the ABC shows like agents of shield, that budget went down the tank by season 5. It was literally filmed almost entirely in poorly lit enclosed spaces.

HBO have been masters of the TV scene for a long time. I haven't watched any of Disney's offerings from last year, saving them up for next month.

Disney has been garbage. Id say Amazon has been between HBO and Netflix, Disney is worse than all 3
