I do appreciate that alphabetical order spells ACHOO.

I gave up on the game after finishing the intros to each character and realizing how much grinding I'd need to do.

The game is rarely grindy outside of the "bonus dungeon" which requires a significant amount and that's why I never did it.

I spent maybe 2 or 3 hours strictly devoted to "Grinding" in the normal game.

(Though I probably spent another 2 or 3 on getting path actions to work..)

To sum up what I did: Immediately recruit all 8 characters, but only focus on a "Group A" of characters.

Take balanced group A, and do all of their stories to completion. This group spent most of it's time as Therion (Warrior), Ophilia (Merchant), Olberic (Thief), Cyrus (White).

Take balanced group B, grind it a little bit, then do all of their stories to completion. This group spent most of it's time as Tressa (Thief), Alfyn (White), H'annit (Warrior), Primrose (Black)

Neither group needed much grinding at all. If you try to do all 8 at once, I could see it getting rather ugly. By the time group B starts, you should be strong enough without any real work to get by with just primary healer. I realized I kinda shoehorned myself because no one in that group bar Alfyn actually functions as a white mage. (Primrose for example has the highest magic attack in the game, but the lowest magic defense, and white magic goes off of the magic defense stat).

I think the game is quite good and had fun the entire time. Some of the best optional/endgame bosses too. Also one of the best soundtracks of the last decade.

Cyrus > Primrose as for my two faves

Doing the whole split group thing is pretty optimal. Especially if you're doing the side dungeons and snag some really good equipment.

My Group B was sorely underleveled, but it didn't matter because I gave them Group A's equipment, and the stats were enough to make nearly every battle trivial.

Anyway, Cyrus gang, followed by Alfyn.

I think I had to grind group B just a little bit but that was it.

I'll do the same thing in the second game for sure.

One of the most noteworthy battles for group B wasn't even a final boss, though. Alfyn's chapter 3 boss is kinda completely overpowered compared to every other tier 3 boss. I had no problem with his final one.
