I recently built a new PC and for the most part it's been great but for whatever reason whenever I try to play a video on Youtube it buffers like crazy. I've never had this happen with any other PC and it's weird because of every other part of it is pretty fast and solid. It's my most used site and it's been very annoying trying to listen to music on it especially as it buffers like every 30 seconds.

Anyone experience this or have any tips on how to fix it? I don't think it's my internet because I don't really have problems with it anywhere else. Maybe it could be something with the OS install.

Is that true with every browser?

Have you tried wired vs wireless? Are you using an adblocker of some sort?

Yes it does it on Firefox too.

I haven't tried wireless and I am using Ublock.

So I went to my settings and actually turned off wi-fi (which was on in addition to being connected directly), and it SEEMS to be running great now. I'll give it a couple of more tests though, it could just be a fluke.

Truth be told, I've been having issues with my desktop PC for the last 6 months or so, where some websites just fail to load properly or take a really long time. But it's only some sites. Like GameFAQs wasn't working right for a long time but seems to be back to normal for the last week or two. Different browsers and adblockers made in difference. My laptops and phone work just fine on everything though.

Virus? Maybe, but Defender and Malwarebytes don't detect anything. Also, I'm not exactly searching the dark web...

Bad Cat5e cable? Seems highly unlikely. Bad router? Again, same thing. I've also been lazy about testing those out.

Now, in my case, my PC is like 8 years old, so it's possible there's a hardware issue on the mobo. But if you've got a new PC, that's probably not the case.

...so yeah, I've really got no fucking idea. I'm just commiserating in your pain.

...yeah...I know...just not particularly interested in spending all the money to get a new gaming quality PC at this point.

Update, as I suspected, it's still not very good so it was just a fluke. I do appreciate the commiserating however.

Double check your power saver settings to see if your wireless card is being turned off to save power. Even with wired that shit caused my online games to lag out every 30 seconds.

Also could try a dns flush, I mean there's no harm doing that.
