Back when Preston (Hey! That's me!) was in 6th grade in the Summer of 2006.

I had $20 with me and I had to make the decision to buy either Tales Of Symphonia or Wave Race: Blue Storm from Blockbuster. .

I ended up buying Blue Storm instead of TOS. And I definitely made the wrong decision.

Why am I making this topic? Because I don't think I a single user in the history of Board 8 discussed the properly.

The load times were horrible. It would take up to a minute after a course was selected, before you could play it. All eight of the playable characters played exactly the same. The weather changing from rain to snow if anything else, made the game more frustrating.

Having to go through each red/yellow buoys was annoying as hell. No sense of freedom whatsoever.

Umm...I'm not totally sure if certain shortcuts could only be taken on the last lap (I think each course was 5 laps long) and the AI WOULD ALWAYS take the shortcuts on the last lap. Certain shortcuts would be horrible to see and take, as if it's raining on the course, it's pitch black on the course and you'll be busy going through the red/yellow buoys instead, of taking the shortcuts.

Another thing. Each character had a certain announcer to cheer you up and it was so cumbersome. (YOU GOT TURBO! YOU MISSED A BUOY!) and they would not shut the hell up, as you are simply trying to navigate through the courses. (YOU MISSED A BUOY! OH NO!) I'm sure that was one of them for the pink girl-y character with a French navigator.

That's my two cents. No wonder that franchise is dead.

I didn't play Blue Strom but the first one was pretty revolutionary.

The good news is that the "remastered" version of Tales Of Symphonia is scheduled to be released on February 17, 2023.

That's the only reason I just suddenly remembered this in my life.

I remember for my 14th birthday I had the chance to buy either Final Fantasy Chronicles or Lunar 2: Eternal Blue Complete, and I ended up buying Chronicles because even though we still had Chrono Trigger, we'd sold off Final Fantasy IV and I wanted to play it again, but mostly because I stupidly thought they'd program in a way to rescue Schala. ...yeah.

I wasn't able to rectify my mistake until I found an affordable used copy of Lunar 2 on Ebay more than a decade later.

I mean, individually I love FF4 and Chrono Trigger more than Lunar 2, but 14-year-old me would've MUCH rather played the new (to me) game, obviously.

I had no idea there was a Wave Race sequel

Put a Wave Racer into Smash. I want to Forward-Smash someone with a jet ski.

Otherwise the series can go. It was fun for a rental a quarter-century ago, but the dolphin does not save it.

Then I am going to blow your mind, because there have been two Wave Race sequels.

There's Wave Race for Game Boy, Wave Race 64 for N64, and Wave Race: Blue Storm for Gamecube.

I remember liking all of them quite a bit, but it has been over a decade since I played the original and Blue Storm.

I prefer the Splashdown series for my jet ski game fix though

I intended to buy Wave Race Blue Storm one weekend back in 2003 but EB Games didn't have any copies.

Side note: I miss early-2000s used game shopping. Every weekend I'd go to the mall hoping they might have gems like SotN, Valkyrie Profile, Xenogears, etc. When those games finally came back in-stock, it was like winning the lottery.

Nowadays, I just check eBay, find the cheapest CIB copy, and place my order. Pfft.

tos is definitely my most replayed game of all time, but i'm not grabbing this shoddy ""remaster""

it solved none of the steam version's issues, and PC players instead solved as much as they could. pc version is better than this remaster

just the fact that the game hasn't been 60fps since the original GC release should be telling
