So can Hulu get the Netflix seasons if Netflix doesn't want it anymore?

That's dumb. Why get rid of a show that you went out of your way to revive?

That's even dumber! This isn't cable TV where ratings decide whether a show lives or dies, it's Netflix. And the show's already over! There's no reason to take it down if there's no risk to keeping it, especially when Netflix has a fuckton of garbage on it already that could be done away with instead.

But whatever, I guess. I don't use Netflix anyway. I have other sources.

It's not the first "netflix original" to vanish. Pompidou has been gone for several years now.

It all could go to Hulu. Netflix recently got all seasons of The Mindy Project including the last few that were revived by Hulu. The last season of Community that was revived by Yahoo are everywhere now too

They probably don't even have to do that. Netflix didn't produce the later seasons, it paid to have 20th Century Fox (now Disney) to do so. But Disney absolutely owns the show. And while there was undoubtedly an exclusivity agreement, it's almost certainly ended with the streaming agreement that is now running out.

Disney can basically put this on Hulu or D+ at basically no cost to them. I fully expect them to do so.

Yes, and frankly that's probably how most Netflix shows work, because that's by and large how the TV industry has worked for decades. Netflix might not be airing shows on a different system than broadcast TV but it didn't totally change how TV is produced.

Like most content on Netflix, Arrested Development was licensed. Netflix paid Disney money to stream the show for a specific period of time. When that time ran out, they would renegotiate and a new deal would get struck.

So either Disney didn't want to license out AD anymore, Netflix didn't want to license AD anymore, or they disagreed on a price. Regardless the deal was over and Netflix no longer has the rights to stream AD.

Its sad. Netflix did wonders for the office and breaking bad but arrested development still couldn't find an audience that appreciated s1-3 humor. Even on streaming.
